"What a fantastic restaurant! Every staff member was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive. The room was impeccably clean, and all our needs were well taken care of. The breakfast, which was included, was excellent. There are plenty of outdoor seating options for those who enjoy dining in the sun, as well as a lovely indoor restaurant for those who prefer a cozy setting. They also cater to gluten-free and other dietary requirements. Additionally, there are many free parking spaces available. We will definitely be returning, and I highly recommend The Drayton Crown!"

We were truly impressed by this gem of a restaurant! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was wonderful. Our group tried the sausages and mash, steak, mushroom risotto, and a fish dish, and everyone agreed that everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. The sausages were the most flavorful I've had in a long time. I would definitely come back to dine here again! Voir le carte

From the moment I arrived until the end of my stay, the entire team displayed remarkable friendliness and professionalism. They went above and beyond to accommodate us, even arranging an earlier breakfast as requested. Both the breakfast and the evening meal were excellent, and the homemade ice cream was a delightful treat. The room was spotless, just like the bathroom. I would highly recommend this establishment to friends, family, and colleagues. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to The Drayton Crown.

I stayed here for one night and had a wonderful experience. The staff were very friendly, the room was excellent, and the breakfast was great. While they weren't serving dinner, they recommended a charming nearby restaurant that offered gluten-free options. They also allowed us to leave our car in the parking area after we checked out so we could spend the day biking. There was a good selection of beers and ciders at reasonable prices, and the outdoor space included a play area for children. I would rate the rooms a solid 5 out of 5.

"We visited your pub on Sunday 24th September 2023 for a celebratory birthday meal and had a table booked at 130pm We arrived 10 mins early and were told our table was not ready in the restaurant We were told there was no where to sit so we had to just stand by bar but we had my elderly mum so we perched her on a chair We were not offered a drink of any kind and the staff just carried on After 10 minutes we were then told our table was one in the bar which had been empty for the 10 mins was. In my view our table should have been in the restaurant but someone was still on it and now we know why Our order was not taken for another 15 mins. It was busy but there was just no customer service what so ever Our food arrived around 230 45 minutes for a roast and after a waiter came over to check our order again so I think it was lost No one came to ask us if the food was ok or we were ok It was busy but there seem to be plenty of staff however I would say it was organised chaos At no time were we told the food would be so long even when we asked where it was Walk ins were still being seated and orders taken even when the current orders were not filled and people were clearly having to wait a ridiculous time for their food hence no table for us in the restaurant The food when it eventually arrived was tasty however not very warm I don’t think we were the first or last to complain about the service When we said that we’d had a dire experience the bar manager said that the chef had only been with the pub for a month and 2 of his bar staff were worse for wear! I’m sorry you don’t say this to your paying customers who have paid hard earned money for a nice meal Completely understand if they were having kitchen issues and wouldn’t mind a delay if front of house were more attentive and useful Won’t be coming again on what was a great pub but now a total let down Just not good enough I’m afraid and no apologies just excuses Would avoid"

"A group of 4 of us ate in on a Sunday evening whilst staying in the area, attracted by the BYO facility. Tbh, we weren 't expecting too much from such a small unassuming place with 4 tables in a shopping area. How wrong we were! We often go for a curry and can honestly say this was probably the best we 've had! A great selection of delicious curries, we had Sikander Badi Lamb, which was so tender it fell off the bone, Moglai chicken containing large chunks of succulent 'real ' chicken (as oppose to preformed chicken, which you often get), a Lamb Tikka Roshni with lovely tender and lean lamb pieces, and a Chicken Tikka Mahkany, all very well presented. The rice was fluffy and light, I particularly liked the coconut rice and my friend loved the vegetable rice, with proper chunks of veg in it. The garlic nan bread was cut up nicely for us to share, bombay potatoes were lovely large spiced chunks and the poppadums were large and crispy, as were the onion bhajis. Portions were huge and they kindly provided boxes/bags to take our leftovers away. Even tho it was a small informal place, they kept standards high with pristine white linen table cloths and napkins. We brought beer and wine with us (no corkage) and bought some soft drinks there. The bill for the 4 of us arrived with chocolate mints and hot towels and came to around £98 (no tip added, so we left our own, as we received good and friendly service). Payment by cash or cheque only. We will certainly be eating here if we are in the area again!"

"My husband and I went to the halfway on our way home as we thought it was a dog friendly pub. We have 2 dogs, one confident and rarely barks, and the other one who is very nervous, but we have been working with her to build her confidence. Our dog had been doing really well at The Pound in Aller and the Prince Alfred at Burrowbridge, so we wanted to widen her experience. We chose the Halfway House at Langport, as we saw on line, it was dog friendly. Sadly as my dog, although I was using training techniques to try to calm her, when a couple came to sit near us, our nervous dog, was more nervous. The couple were lovely and continued to talk to us while we calmed our dog, understanding she was scared. Sadly the bar staff spoke to us, and said, your dog is barking, people are eating. I could not do more than I was to mange the training, so told the bar person, we would finish our drinks and leave. He said, it wasn’t him, it was everyone else. This was not very helpful. The people we were taking to said they often have evenings when they have lots of dogs and they can become barky and hoped they would see us again. We will not be going back again, some pubs are child friendly and you expect some noise from children, I thought a dog friendly pub would understand some noise from dogs, especially those who the owner is trying to help increase their confidence. We understand the establishment can decide who they want in their business. I thought we were going to be in a pub who understood nervous dogs, but this was not the case. We now understand the owners want to allow dogs, not not nervous dogs. This is a lovely pub, but only wants quiet dogs."
