"This pub/restaurant has just been taken over by new owners and have to say our visit was not a disappointment! The pub itself is cosy and welcoming and even though the pub was busy when we arrived (rugby was on we were made to feel welcome and getting served wasn't a problem. We then went in to the restaurant for our Sunday lunch which we booked a few days before (looking at how busy it was I'd suggest you just give them a ring to make sure you get a booking . Being traditionalists we had a full Sunday lunch and it was AMAZING All the veg was fresh and cooked to perfection, as was the pork beef (the meat options we went for , there were also lots of roasties and a huge Yorkshire pudding... all topped off with lots and lots of gravy... I like my food and I'm not exactly a delicate soul when it comes to eating, but I was certainly well fed after eating this lot. In terms of deserts, there were all the old favourites; Apple pie, sticky toffee pudding, syrup pudding to name but a few I went for the Apple pie with cream and my partner went for the syrup pudding with ice cream, again both were great... TBH I did have a small amount of pudding envy when the deserts arrived but that soon lifted with my first mouthful of pie : so no harm no foul as they say! All in all the meal was fantastic and when you factor in the price around £30 all in, including a few drinks, this really is a bargain. Before we left we got talking to the landlady and she informed us that she’d only been open a few weeks and had managed to get the chef (Richard from the now closed Tavern Altami on board, by all accounts he has a strong reputation and from what we experienced is a great chef. Will defo be back to sample some more of the delicious food and warm hospitality. Thank you guys."
