"We had a fantastic evening before Christmas decided to go back but how I wish we hadn't. The restaurant was relatively quiet as you would expect on a Wednesday evening but we were hidden out the way behind a column it felt as if it was too much hassle for the waitress to come round the corner to serve us in a personal manner. Menus were pushed on to the corner of the table the same with dessert spoons. The waitress comments were also unnecessary not funny, just because we ordered the same main meal she wouldn't let it drop all evening. The food was ok but nothing special, the lemon meringue pie wasn't good the salad had the dressing on it already it was drenched. The toilet downstairs always smells unpleasant which is not great if you're sitting close by. I have to say there is enough competition in the surrounding areas that we won't be returning, sadly another customer lost."

Went for afternoon tea, beautifully set out, rolls, wraps scones with jam and clotted cream cakes and desserts with tea or coffee. What a lovely treat. Service punctual staff friendly, would definitely recommend

had my birthday meal here with friends last night and had the best time! the food was fantastic, the staff was great and really took care of us, even with the singing ' Happy birthday' could not mistake the restaurant and the night was rounded off with coffee on the terrace. we look forward to a visit.

This genuinely exceeded expectations, we booked for the most comfortable overnight stay for a family event, and besides the quaint floor (the building is one of the oldest inns in the country)we had a very comfortable bed, and a faultless shower and proper towels and soap, and the best nights sleep ever. The breakfast also gets top marks.

Traditional pub grub. I had a beer battered fish which was lovely. Unfortunately the chips were not to my taste. The chips are so fat that they cease to resemble a chip and are more like fingers of flowery baked potato. I ate them with a wodge of tomato ketchup, but would have much preferred proper fish and chip type chips. My friend had their house burger which she liked up to when she got to the middle of the burger meat which was pretty solid and impenetrable without a lot of fork pressure.
