"Popped in for a bit of lunch on Saturday with the family. We had our grandson with us in his pram so the staff made some space for us to have the pram at the table. Very accommodating. Extensive menu for lunch and extremely reasonable pricing. I had the local fish which was delicious and cooked to perfection. My wife had the chicken goujons and she cleared her plate. The son in law had lasagne and he polished the lot off even although it was a large portion. My daughter had a mixed platter which she said was amazing. She had to take some home as the portion was so big. All in all we had a fantastic lunch in a cosy wee pub. The cost made this extremely good value for money. Will definitely recommend the Contented Sole to anyone. Will be back."

This place feels like going back in time 40 years. It was freezing cold, and there was no atmosphere, and the tables were bizzarly laid out. The chips were inedible. My husband ordered chicken Tikka Massala, and he is convinced it was from local co-op. The portion size was ridiculously small, and there was no offer of nan bread or poppadoms.
