Very friendly service and excellent food. Menu was varied. Amazing cheesecake. Nice to see a cheeseboard available. Thanks for a lovely lunch.

We have had two excellent meals here recently and decided we would use them for a wake. Service was outstanding and staff very friendly. The food is very fresh and local produce. Will definitely be back very soon.

Yesterday evening, my family and I went to the Blue Lion to celebrate my Mother's birthday. The eight of us received excellent service and delicious food. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to visit the Blue Lion again the next time we are in Essex. Voir le carte

Ben and Carina have done a fantastic job of transforming this pub from its previous reputation to a top-notch establishment. The food is incredible, with careful attention to detail, and the staff are fabulous. You can always expect a warm welcome and friendly smile. I highly recommend this place. If you haven't been yet, it's definitely worth a visit!

I have visited a few times now after work, I have been met with a personal greeting and a smile. Speedy quality bar snacks served outside went down a treat. My dog was served with a surprise clean fresh bowl of water also brought to...the table, nice touch!. I will put this on my list to revisit again, definitely recommendable.. great experience, thank you.

I have been pleased with the recent changes at the Blue Lion restaurant over the years. The service is professional, friendly, and polite. The menu offers post-COVID, straightforward options that are top quality and expertly presented. The bar has a great selection of drinks. I commend the new management and team for a job well done. We went here for lunch. The pub is nicely decorated with a warm and friendly atmosphere. There is a nice garden out the back, but as it was raining we sat inside. The staff were friendly, polite and extremely attentive. The food was lovely and...tasty and nicely presented. The men had Ruddles, a real ale that I was told was a nice pint at a reasonable price. I had a very nice tasting glass of Chevalier Syrah red wine. Our group had nothing but praise for The Blue Lion and wish the tenants and their staff all the best in the future.

We visited for lunch, which was the first time for a long time as it had gone down hill a bit. It's one of our local pubs which has recently got new landlords. Lovely old pub with a lovely beer garden. The food was delicious...and were good portion size. The staf were very friendly and helpful. My one criticism would be that the food menu at lunchtime was very limited, which is a shame because it would put us off coming back for lunch as there's not a lot of choice and we wouldn't want to keep having the same thing all the time. If they increased the menu then we would be back for food. Otherwise we'll just pop in for a drink.

We went to the bar and asked for a drink and the door staff came up asked us to leave. The barman said he did not understand why we were being asked to leave. We asked the doormen why we were being asked to leave...and he said we’d had enough… we had not have any alcohol. I was dressed in shorts and long socks so appreciate that’s not your usual attire but did not expect to be kicked out because of it. We went back and sat in the garden to ask for a drink, the waitress came up and said she was not serving us as per the doorman’s instructions.
