Stayed 2 nights, Friday and Saturday for bed and breakfast. Lovely room, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Staff lovely and friendly. Will definately stay again.

Fantastic find. Lovely Sunday lunch of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding Had the mushroom soup to start. Dog friendly and such a warm atmosphere Will be going back

We visited this pub twice while staying in the area, the man behind the bar was so friendly and welcoming and we felt at home there.. food was amazing and did not have to wait long.. great pub will definitely come back

We are here twice, lots of history. Food was varied and tasty, well priced and served with a smile. Landlord was welcoming and there was a great atmosphere at wednesdays Quiz night in and of St Catherine's hospice. Would highly reccomend

Our in laws were staying here for a couple of nights (they said accommodation was very nice). We joined them on the Sunday for lunch. The lunch was excellent steak pie was great. Desserts also excellent. Good pricing. Would highly recommend. They were great at staggering the courses as well as we had a 1 year old to entertain so avoids food getting cold for 1 of us. Cannot praise our Sunday lunch enough.Everything on our plate and in the tureen was perfectly cooked and so very tasty,from the fantastic Yorkshire puddings and succulent roast beef, which was already on our plate along with roast potatoes and creamed potatoes,to the ample supply of vegetables in the tureen. The chef most definitely knows how to cook a delicious meal.Would recommend to anybody! The staff are so friendly and welcoming.

Spotless, a great welcome, cosy and a good selection of drinks. Unique in that: A. I’ve literally never seen a Barnsley Chop on a pub menu, B. (apparently the only place the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip had a pub meal and C. surely the only place on the planet that played (one of my absolute favourite songs ever, by the way Imagine by ‘Belouis Some’ seven times back to back as the background music. Excellent service, proper veg and decent chips. PS the Barnsley Chop was great.

Having been several times before we were very disappointed. Sunday roast was good bar the frozen Yorkshire puddings but the spinach and ricotta tortellini was dreadful. Shop bought pasta with the cauliflower cheese sauce from Sunday roast on. If I hadn’t been with family I’d have sent it back. Fish and chips were good. Fairly sure the tiramisu was shop bought and scooped out as a mess in our bowl with canned squirts cream, same for the trifle that was swimming in liquid. Staff were lovely but this was disappointing as always had great meals there before. Voir le carte
