"My husband and I visited The Anglers today for lunch. We have never eaten there before but have been quite a few times for a drink and have always found it to be very pleasant. We ate there for the first time today and were very disappointed. Although the place was not particularly busy we had to wait nearly an hour for our food. We had both ordered cod and chips which arrived so grossly overcooked that I couldn’t even cut my batter! I finally broke through to find the fish dry, flaky and nearly non-existent. It was unpalatable. However the chips and mushy peas were good!No refund of any sort was given as the food was paid for upon ordering. We will not be eating there again."

Great dinner with friends, friendly staff and great weather for eating outside. Plates were empty and all enjoyed ourselves.

Shame that the local drinkers don’t care about people eating.. fowl language and the staff would rather them than anyone that wants dinner

Dropped in for a quick drink after a long circular walk. A friendly reception met us and the parrot was also on show. Good clean seating inside and quite garden covered and uncovered. Well worth a visit

The Anglers is a down to earth friendly pub i always take my kids in they love it! As a family we've always felt welcome the food is great especially the freshly baked pizzas on Mondays from a real pizza oven! Best pub around in my opinion!

Went into this pub with my wife for a quick light lunch. The tuna sandwich and a bowl of cheesy chips were excellent. Good choice of draft beer but I went for the local Tring Brewery option. If you are walking in this area I would thoroughly recommend you give it a try.

Went today with my two boys on a bike ride. As soon as we walked in, it was clear we weren’t welcome. ‘Mature’ lady behind bar scowled at us tone of voice was pretty appalling. I ordered 3 soft drinks and abandoned thoughts of lunch because of her unwelcome nature. Am local but won’t go back. Cafe round the corner gets my money from here on in.

Stopped off for a bite to eat on the way home. Lovely garden with birdlife , even a friendly duck came up from the pond lolThe have a conservatory and patio area with heaters as well as a garden with aviary . Just across from the canal and reservoir. We had a light lunch. Was nice , and sitting in the sunshine added to the atmosphere.Staff were friendly and the pub is a freehouse with character .Unpretentious which is what I like about it.

Popped into this pub for lunch while doing part of a canal walk. Have been a couple of times before so we knew it was a friendly, relaxed place with good pub food. This Saturday it was very busy; there was a large group booked in for lunch and an unexpected 'chip crisis ' threatened to delay proceedings. Despite all this, the staff maintained their smiling, friendly manner throughout. It was lovely to see such genuine hard work at play... and some quick thinking happily solved the chip problem. Thank you!
