"I was about to put a review about how rude were both the owner and his partner that I bumped into the review of another customer that I will copy below. It fully expresses my feelings. The only difference with it is that we went for lunch and they went for dinner. The arrogance of the owners was incredible: As usual, our family decided to have dinner at the Sonnenhof in August. We booked our table a few days in advance and arrived promptly at 7:30pm. To our great surprise, the restaurant terrace was packed full with many extra tables improvised left and right. It took the waitress 20 minutes to come to our table. While the first course arrived within 40 minutes, the main course was taking forever. When we eventually complained at 9:30pm, the spouse of the owner gave us an arrogant answer that they were full and had over 100 servings etc. We were somewhat surprised by the tone, when a simple short apology would have been sufficient, but that was too much too ask. Later, when we paid our bill, we tried to explain again that the service was slow, we were told that “our guests accept this”. Some 30 minutes later, around 22:30, the restaurant owner called us. Hoping that finally he found some common sense, he continued his wife‘s arrogant attitude and again was not able to apologise for the quality of the service, epitomizing the arrogance of this establishment. This is the last time we will be visiting this restaurant after some 30 years. Some people wonder if the Saanenland has lost its soul, well it looks like the Sonnenhof has . Their success made them lose sight of the importance of being kind to clients. I don 't think they will change their attitude as long as their restaurant will be full. That 's a pity."

One of the best meals I have had in Switzerland. The veal with mushrooms with rosti was incredible. Breathtaking views and great service.

Die Aussicht auf Gstaad ist super. Das Essen ist qualitativ sehr gut. Der Service sehr arrogant und und unfreundlich, nicht nötig zuzuhören und das richtige zu bringen, denke es läuft ohne sich zu bemühen. Da gehen wir nicht mehr hin.

Wunderschön umgebautes Chalet, gediegenes Ambiente und mit einladender Terrasse.Der Nüsslisalat mit Ei und mit feinen Sommertrüffeln war ein Gedicht für CHF 24.-- und das Rinds Tartar sehr schmackhaft. Schön serviert, äusserst netter Service. Ein schönes Haus mit hohem Wohlfühl Ambiente und hochstehender Küche.Wir kommen gerne wieder.

A great experience!!! From the amazing views over Gstaad, beautiful landscape and garden, to the super nice service (we had a dog that they prepared a special meal for), to the succulent dishes!!! Don’t miss the area specialty the émincé de vœu with rôstic and mushrooms!!! I’d even drive 2hrs for this experience ! A must do restaurant if you’re around Voir le carte

I have been visiting the restaurant for 15 years. It just gets better and better and the owners are a complete delight. The food is beautifully and artfully presented. I personally love the salad plate and the delicious rosti the chef (owner) takes Rosti to another level! Fabulous deserts as well. This restaurant also has one of the best views in the Saanenland, standing next to the 5 star hotels with equally wonderful views. Can't recommend this place enough. 5 Star Quality food, quality owners. A little pricey but don't let that put you off. This place is a must if you are in the area.

Auf Empfehlung unseres Hotels besuchten wir das uns noch nicht bekannte Restaurant mit (z. T. sehr) guten Renommé. Es liegt mit fantastischer Aussicht etwas oberhalb Saanen, mit einer grossen und schönen Terrasse, welche allerdings Wetter bedingt geschlossen war. Inneneinrichtung bequem, viel sichtbares Holz, Tische sind grosszügig dimensioniert, z. T. etwas nahe beieinander. Die Leistungen der Küche waren allesamt hoch bis sehr hoch, die Karte nicht allzu gross. Wir entschieden uns für Erdbeeren & Avocado Salat, Salat mit Eierschwämmchen - beide SEHR gut, Rinds-Tartar, Kalbssteak mit Spinat - alles bestens abgeschmeckt und von hoher Qualität. Hoch bis sehr hoch sind auch die Preise - Gstaad...
