"A return visit, but the first since the change of ownership. We arrived before midday, not having a reservation, but were seated easily on a quiet day. There were only two staff and service was a little slow, but nothing to moan about. I'm not sure what the reason was; the first sunny day for quite a while, the first weekday of the half term holiday, but suddenly the place was inundated and the staff, who obviously weren't expecting it, just couldn't cope there was queue out of the door! Everything unravelled from there. Luckily our order had been taken and our food arrived in good time, but another drink or a cup of coffee would have taken forever, so I paid and left! The food was OK, but not what it used to be. The place remains very much the same, but taken as a whole the experience was not as good as usual. I'll go back again, just to see if this was a one off, but I do think Young's Brewery needs to be more on the ball here. I should add, the staff were both very friendly and helpful, but were just overwhelmed."

"it'sIgetting harder to find good quality food with good service and a reasonable price so this place is a real find. First it has a great location right on a small inlet of the river with the sunset on the water ahead and views of the village and hilltops all around. The outdoor area is well heated and sheltered. Next the service very helpful staff who know their menu. Although the place was clearly very busy there was no feeling of being rushed to vacate the table and no long waits for food. Finally the menu not the largest selection, but the food offered was the best we've had in ages. The crab linguine and Thai chicken curry are highly recommended. And the desserts wow! Often UK pub desserts are a disappointment microwaved supermarket cakes, but in this case the portions are huge and the quality is amazing. The cheesecake is massive and full of flavour. We would definitely recommend this for eating. Judging by the need to book tables on weekday nights, lots of other people recommend it too."

"I recently had lunch at this restaurant and was very impressed with the quality of food. The price per person was between £10 and £20, which I found to be quite reasonable for the portion sizes and taste. I would rate the food a 5, as everything I tried was delicious. The service was also good, receiving a rating of 4. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, earning a score of 4 as well. I highly recommend trying the Roast Beef at this restaurant, as it was particularly tasty. For vegetarians, I would also recommend this place as they have plenty of delicious options to choose from. Overall, I had a great dining experience and would definitely return."

"I didn't end up dining at this restaurant due to my own error, but I must commend the exceptional service I received from the staff. I had intended to treat my parents to a meal, but mistakenly confused this Foxhound Inn with another one. Being out of the country, I had placed some money behind the bar over the phone and spoke with a helpful bartender who tried to find a solution. Unfortunately, a few days later I realized my mistake (my parents were at the other Foxhound). When I called to inquire about a refund due to my error, the landlady was understanding and happy to accommodate. I hope to visit this establishment someday as it seems like a wonderful place, and the staff I interacted with were all kind and accommodating."

"Unfortunately, this restaurant has deteriorated over the past year. While the bar side received a fancy refurbishment that brought it up-to-date, the kitchen renovation never happened. The atmosphere is lacking, with the staff not seeming to enjoy their work, and the place is not well-maintained. The bathrooms are best avoided. It's a shame, as this pub used to be a lively spot in the village. Hopefully, they can bring back the previous staff members. Currently, they do not serve food, so dietary restrictions are not applicable. There is parking available outside on the main road, but wheelchair accessibility is not available."
