"I'm vegetarian and spotted a lovely dish on the board outside so went in and took a table only to find that dish wasn't included and there were not other vegetarian options (OK Germany isn't always good for veggy but the dish outside had been put together with care so I was hopeful). There was no way they were prepared to modify another dish so I opted for 2 starters, garlic bread (mediocre) and something with aoli (thick and tasteless). Bad choice and together it was almost uneatable but got no more than a raised eyebrow. This was the last day of our holiday and I was past taking the matter up and asking for a discount so we paid (over the top) and left. The staff seemed stressed, rushing and unhappy so it didn't create a great atmosphere. It also didn't help that where were sat I had to get up to let 2 couples out and in then into their end of our bench seat. Shame, it looked like a quality place but service and hospitality is everything really. Veggy or not."

Although it was full, I still got the chance to try the interesting food. It was very good and served in a very warm way

Dinner with my ex-boss. I had schnitzel and It was excellent. Place is nicely refurbished and despite being fully booked (another good sign) not too noisy.

This was a restaurant visit that was organised by a colleagure to give us a taste of Hamburg. It certainly did that with a good choice of fish dishes to try.

We only drunk some tea but honestly it had a strong artificial taste. Although the tea is called PURE it everything but pure. The apple cake was OK but not really special. The restaurant is nice with friendly staff and clean toilet. I can't judge the food. Voir le carte

Imagine Hamburg on a sunny spring day, and needing a break while visiting the pittoresque Speicherstadt - then this is the place to go.You can sit outside, weather permitting, service is very fast and very friendly, and if you have a sweet tooth, you find lots of delicious small dishes on the menu.We had the freshly baked waffles and the Kaiserschmarrn and both tasted very good.

I've been here already a few times and the ambience is still shick and lovely. The service is also great. The food though. not as good as it used to be. Even though they added a vegan/veggie menu, which is a huge woohoo for me - the quality doesn't justify the price. The vegan curry is too heavy and plain (and somewhat chewy), the veggie sushi is 5 rolls (5)! For the price of 12 euro :/ I wish they would put more effort and make the veggie menu worth the price they ask for it. There's some place for improvement.

We came to this restaurant for coffee and a cake on a Saturday afternoon, whilst we waited for the nearby Groninger bar to open (it only opens at 5pm). Most of the tables were reserved but luckily we had time for a quick coffee before the time of the next reservation. We had a nice table by the window, and ordered cakes from the vast selection of what looked like home made ones. They were very tasty, as was the coffee. The cost was reasonable, in fact for the environment we were in we expected it to be more. Very nice find! Voir le carte

Dinner with a gorgeous colleague of mine turned into incredible experience. Food and drink divine, we had Gnocchi and Steak, cooked perfectly, Kaiserscaren and cheese board, drunk perfectly chilled Blanc de Blanc from South Africa and sherry to pair our cheese. Highlight was the staff. The only male waiter turned into an actor and owner on duty and we could clearly see that he stole the show. Hard working and serving his customers with pride. The rest of the crew was as amazing. Definitely recommend and always come back. Thanks guys for being inspiring.

First the staff is delightful and very accommodating. They followed my directions and made a perfect gin martini. We ordered from the English menu and selected "rump steak"because when we walked in the room was fragrant with the scent of roast beef. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the English translation was an error in our favor. Filet Mignon ! My husband and I shared one order of the "rump steak' and an order of white asparagus with Hollandaise sauce that came with a bowl of boiled potatoes that we covered in Hollandaise. Superb! Beware of the bread basket. We consumed the entire 8 slices -4 white and 4 whole grain along with a Mediterranean dip. We are going back for hamburgers w...

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
