This cafe was an unexpected find on bank holiday Monday. The staff were really lovely and helpful and the food was perfect. I have walked past it so many times and not realised it was there but I will definitely be going back. Dietary restrictions: They had lactose free milk available. "We stayed here for a couple of nights while doing a bit of hiking in the Galloway Hills. I knew they had a vegan menu as I'd seen it mentioned on Happy Cow but when you walk into the restaurant you really wouldn't know it! The menu they hand you doesn't mention any vegan dishes, there's nothing telling you to ask for the vegan menu and the staff didn't mention it! But it really does exist! And it offers four vegan mains which is great for a pub in a small town in Scotland! You can choose from a vegan roast, a vegan burger, a penang curry or a sweet potato mushroom tart. "We had a really excellent meal last night at the Cree Inn, to celebrate my son 's 15th birthday. The staff were attentive and really friendly, the dining area was cosy (if a little cool) and comfortable, and the food was excellent. This is not 'pub grub ', it was excellent quality, beautifully cooked and delicious. There were 6 of us eating, we all had starters and mains, and 3 had desserts. With drinks included the bill was around £170, which these days offers really fair value, and for the quality it was excellent. Compliments to the chef, and all of the staff. Vegetarian options: We had 2 vegetarians in our group, and there was a good choice. Starters were halloumi or a cheesy tart, and I chose garlic bread instead. Mains included a delicious mushroom risotto, basil and tomato pasta and a couple of other options. Parking: There is a small car park to the rear with space for around 4 cars, or free roadside parking nearby. Kid-friendliness: We had 2 teenagers in our party, and there was another child eating with their family, and they were all very happy. I didn 't see any high chairs or other specific options for younger children, but we didn 't ask or go into any other rooms, and there is a children 's menu with plenty of choice."

"Massive portions of very tasty food, egg fried rice is really good, as are the chips. Reasonable prices too. The only issue is that they are too popular, so you need to order well in advance. We couldn't find a menu online, so, instead of phoning up we popped in at 5:40pm on a Thursday evening to order and were told to come back for the food at 7:10pm! When I was picking mine up (spot on 7:10pm to be fair) they were turning people away, saying it would not be ready by 9 pm when they closed. I've posted pics of the menu so you can order well in advance"

"I met the Scotsman's mother and sister here for dinner before attending a Scottish Heritage show. The service was incredibly friendly, quick, and efficient. We ordered a meal for four, which included two servings of pan-fried chicken served over mashed potatoes, topped with onion rings and a peppercorn sauce. It was quite flavorful and served in a moderate portion size. We also ordered mac and cheese, which came with fries and coleslaw, and it was a massive portion. The fish and chips were similarly generous in size. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and even decided to order dessert. I had a waffle with ice cream, along with chocolate cake and Galloway Creamery ice cream for the table. We definitely left well satisfied."
