"We went there with a group of hoping to have some above average Italian Friday night dinner. Showing up, the place was pretty packed but with a reservation we straight got out table. The place is rather small, and instead of creating a...atmosphere people could/would/should enjoy the approach taken is to get as many tables into the room possible. We felt a bit like I real life Tetris and is was very hard to have a conversation , having people sitting very close by and a high level of noise. After sitting down it took around minutes before somebody bothered to stop by and took the order for drinks and food (the latter to make sure we don't have to wait again). We went for two times pasta special and two times pizza. The time for the food to come out of the kitchen was pretty average and with a place that is full nothing to complain. For the meals itself , there is a pretty big gap between expectations and reality. While both of the pizzas looked nice and as I got told also tasted great, I can't say the same about the pasta dishes. Papardelle with shrimps, dates, almonds and chili. First, the portion was small considering the price. Second, ordering a dish with shrimps, my expectations are to have more than one tiny shrimp coming with it. All , I could find was one sad shrimp laying on geh side of the plate. Lastly, almonds we both did not discover them in or on the plate , so not sure what happened to them. In summary , a Restaurant that seems to be mainly profit orientated and you need to be a regular to get attention. The atmosphere is perfect if you try to minimize the communication of people or if you like to share something with the whole room. The food, for the pasta dish I would say overpriced and really disappointing (for size, price and presentation) while the pizzas seem to be fair priced and very good."

Good food - but staff appeared to feed locals first - took 2 hours for food to come - without apology or discount - very disappointing!

Home made, Italian food. Not bad, anyway nothing exceptional. My spaghetti were quite without taste. Waitresses not smiling, having not a good feeling after the visit.

i went to the restaurant with my wife and her friend, myself being the hungry person, the other two wanting to join me and have just drinks without food. we entered and asked them if they had a table for us, upon which we were offered a table for two, which was okay for us, as only i wanted a full meal. when the elderly woman offering us the table heard that it was only one person having a full meal, we were brusquely told that we were not profitable enough for them, thus we were not accepted as guests. this experience makes it clear that the restaurant in mainly after profit, not allowing people in, who appear unprofitable according to their calculations. myself living in this area, i will...

This was a recommendation as being the best Italian restaurant in the neighbourhood. We went three times, mainly because they offered a good selection of home made pasta dishes along with a selection of meat & fish. The menu isn't extensive (always a good sign) but the starters were good sized portions (a cold meat anti-pasto was almost too much for 3!); the mains -we ate a variety were equally good (we had pastas- the gnocci being excellent-calamari, beef, calves-liver; veal; spaghetti and ravioli - over the three evenings and were never disappointed). Prosecco slightly over-priced, but the wine was good value. the main drawback was on the second visit we had to wait over 90 minutes for the...

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
