"Our last night in Berlin, we walked toward the River Spree along the Frederichstrasse. Just before the viaduct for the train station, there is an alleyway to the right. The first restaurant we encountered was the Restaurant Nolle. What attracted us was the charming "Berlin" style with a 20's chic. One could sit out front but we went inside where there was lots of seating in front and back sections of the main dining room as well as more bar-like setting next door and (all the way in the back) a small outdoor garden setting. Our waiter was tall, handsome and charming and prepared with both German and English menus. (Everyone we encountered as we entered was very friendly and quickly directed us to the area of our choice.) Of course, we each had a beer from the tap. I chose the local potato soup with cut up pieces of wurst. Though it was my first serving of potato serving while in Berlin, it was the most attractive of others I'd seen in restaurants along the way. The portion was substantial, wonderfully hot and included sliced vegetables. Truly delicious for only 5.50 E. My husband for the meatloaf with fried onions and an egg on top. It included fried potatoes and small salad. The fried egg was perfectly done (kind of sunny side medium). His second try on this dish while in Berlin and thought it was great. For Americans, please note that the meatloaf in Berlin looks and tastes more like a large hot dog burger. Guess it is supposed to be a bit like Bratwurst meat but tastes a lot like a typical American hot dog. Still really great but don't expect an American version of "meatloaf." I had the large tossed salad with balsamic vinegarette dressing. You can also have a yogurt style dressing. Little heavy on the dressing but it was very fresh with lots of different vegetables. Sliced baguette was included. We stayed at the Maritim Pro Arte down the street and were thrilled to find such a charming place. We even enjoyed the hum of the trains passing by periodically in the building above. Would recommend this for a large group as there is plenty of space in the back and a wonderful German menu with some great options. We would definitely go back!"

Authentic Southern German food in a nice and cosy old school atmosphere. Try the superb Schnitzel or fried Maultaschen and close your splendid meal with a Kaiserschmarren.

Ate here with a group of 20 on a trip to Berlin. The food was excellent and the beers were cold. Service was fast even though the place was fully booked. Would recommend this place for lunch or dinner. Voir le carte

Dropped in here unplanned, great service from the get go, I had soup which was lovely, my partner had a German dish, he enjoyed it. The building inside is lovely too. Overall great, nothing to complain about.

Went as part of a Viking cruise tour group for lunch. Food was very good (potato soup, entree of roast pork, bratwurst sausage, potatoes, sauerkraut, and veggies) with apple strudel for desert. Beer, wine or soda to drink.

When we recently visited Berlin, we looked forward to trying some real German food and we certainly succeeded with this unusual building, set under the arches of Friedrichstrasse station. This typical German restaurant provided an excellent menu and the opportunity to try some hearty meals. The service was really good and was enhanced by our waiter, Fabio. The staff all spoke very good English which was a bonus. The quality of the food was first class and accompanied by a comprehensive range of drinks. Voir le carte

Nestled in railway arches by the Friedrichstrasse train station, this restaurant was a great find to experience German cuisine. Everything my family had was excellent and we enjoyed trying several items and sharing. The decor is beautiful with an art deco vibe. Service was wonderful as well and the staff had no problem with English. The restaurant does cater to large groups in the back area, but that didn't impact our experience. There is also an outside patio in front and back, but due to the rain neither was an option when we were there.

We ate at Restaurant Nolle with a very large group, about 180 people, that filled a large portion of the restaurant. The service was excellent, especially considering the group size, and the food was delicious and plentiful. We had a nice side salad, followed by a small pork Schnitzel "Viennese Style", homemade meatball, small grilled sausage on sauerkraut and fried potatoes. Tasty, if a little heavier than we are used to for lunch. The venue is very interesting, a historic building underneath railroad tracks. It's over 100 years old and in the art deco style.
