"Well, I have visited this restaurant before and so went back to see if the experience before was one off or whether it was consistent. Pleased I went back! I had the liver and rosti, for my main. The starter of the winter salad was a good indication of what was to come. Simple with a nice dressing. The dining may not be 'fancy ' but the food was really well done. And the jus that accompanied the dish was so so tasty. I followed up with the pear struesel which was accompanied by a serving of ice-cream. To describe the dessert as a sort of pear-Sponge doesn 't do it justice. So so nice. Maybe could be a bit more moist but I was happy. Staff were a bit cool on entry because busy but they warmed up and had a lovely chat at the end. When back in Basel, I am heading back. If heading there I would highly recommend."

Had the beer sausage and potato salad. Other options were steak or salad. You have to check everything with the waiter.

Great place to taste Ueli Beer and have some good food. Service is very smart. We had the chance to sit outside in the garden but inside looks great.

A beautifully warm welcome from host and staff. Menu was extensive, I chose the fish, of course, and mustard soup. They brew their own beer, very tasty.

A lovely and authentic restaurant. You can see the microbrewery vats while you are having dinner if you are seated at the back. Try the pork knuckle or the braised pork cheeks absolutely delicious, and of course, try the beer! Knowledgeable and hip waiters!

I visited the restaurant during the cancelled Basel Fasnacht, but the place was decorated festively and was full of joyful people. We had Basler Mahlsuppe (small but very tasty portions) and Frikadelle (German-style meatballs with onion sauce) with fast and good service. We will come back again for tasting the beer.

Horrible food, since the change of the kitchen chef food is so much worse, got that feedback from a friend but wanted to try myself, pork cheeks were not cooked long enough, therefore uneatably hard, schnitzel for 44 bucks was cooked in old butter, worst schnitzel ever, pls get that chef back from before, beer was perfect as always, therefore 1 star

Cannot visit Basel without a visit to the Fischerstube! Amazing beer, and the food is equally amazing! Usual just stop for a few beers, but popped in for some food with a friend on a recent trip. Made mistake of not booking, ding usually need to, place was packed so stood at bar till a table came free, staff and locals all really friendly! Food was well worth the wait, as as the Dunkel and home made schnapps..,

Food was excellent, the risotto and veggie burger (although I don 't see putting a sandwich on a halved pretzel with the holes!! Vs Pretzel roll/bun). The server with excellent English was congenial and great. Problem was the host, owner, manager, seater, maitre, whatever.... Was an arrogant ___. I simply nicely requested seating away from smokers on patio. What I received was arms thrown up in the air, you are in nature, surrounded by air with sweeping arms. We did sit away a bit, ordered beers food. What did ___ do?? Purposelessly sat TWO smokers upwind next table chairs touching from us just before our food arrived.

We were in this brew-pub more than 20 years ago, and returned back today. Nothing has changed, still the same cozy neighborhood atmosphere. Most guests were locals, which is a good sign. The pike (egli) on asparagus and Hollandaise was delicious. The these days hard to find sour livers (suuri läberli) on rösti was as it should be, just perfect. For dessert the rhubarb bieramisu (no, this is not a typo) hit the sweet-sour spot precisely. For drinks I had the 4-beer sampler, followed by a full dose of the one I liked the most among them, a procedure I would recommend. Service was friendly and attentive. We will come back, for sure before another 20 years.

"Cheval Blanc is the ultimate classic French fine dining experience in Switzerland. We came here to celebrate my birthday while in Switzerland looking for a 3 Michelin stars experience. Located in the historical Grand Hotel Les Trois Rios. The riverside setting is charming and romantic. You start by a welcome drink at the terrace looking at the Rhine greeted by suited , polite and professional staff. The head chef Peter Knogl came to say hi before we moved to the main dining room and service started. The decor and interior is classy retro French with high ceilings, arches, classic chandeliers, large windows and round tables with candles. Ambience is warm and intimate. Service was top notch and impeccable. Staff were all knowledgeable with refreshing attention to details. Cuisine was modern french with Mediterranean influences, flavors were complex and dynamic. Ingredients were chosen carefully and courses were presented beautifully. I liked all of my courses, highlights of the menu were the Sardine Macaron, Langoustine curry, Red Mullet filet and the French saddle of lamb with mediterranean flavors. Wine pairing was excellent and enhanced every course taste and flavor. Sommelier was very professional and knowledgeable yet intimidating a bit. The French Cheese selections from Maître Antony in Ferrette was aromatic, rich and satisfying, Maître Antony is one of the best in the world that many Michelin starred Chefs get their fine cheeses selection from. The night ended well with a couple of delightful desserts courses, few delectable bites and some velvety chocolate. Overall, we had an elevated fine dining experience that will bring me back if in Basel again."
