"The lunch menu is priced at £15.50 for 3 courses with a glass of wine, which is great value. We had a nice lunch on Tuesday, but were not happy when the waiter started clearing the table while one of us was still eating. The table next to us also had the same problem and their bill was reduced as a result. Perhaps the waiter needs to improve their customer service skills, as we have never encountered this issue before. However, this won't deter us from returning soon, as the food is always excellent."

"Our 20 yr old student son was visiting Ipswich as part of an upcoming placement. He had to stay in a hotel for two nights on his own and eat out for dinner as nothing available in the hotel. He went to ASK at around 6.30pm and asked for a table … he was told they ‘already had too many’ despite all the empty tables and him being on his own. Very offhand and rude and made him feel very uncomfortable. On phoning afterwards we were told they were short staffed and having a difficult day. Nice of them to take it out on a young man on his own. Shameful behaviour! The reality is he was one person, it was early doors, and all he wanted was a warm meal after a long day. He wouldn’t have been taking a table up all night and making demands on the staff. If you happen to find yourself in a similar situation save yourself the trouble and just go to Prezzo. Or just go to Prezzo in any event."

"What a fantastic place! We have dined on seafood from various locations and must admit that everything was incredibly fresh and satisfying. We made a reservation and confirmed it with the staff. Upon our arrival in the evening, we were treated with great care. The oysters from Colchester were a highlight; one of our guests claimed they were better than the ones she had in France and were exceptionally fresh. We enjoyed a wonderful selection of different fish and squid, which was prepared in a unique yet excellent manner. The salmon and plaice were also very fresh and delicious, and the sea bass was delightful as well! The new potatoes were excellent, and the chips were even better than what you find at most other places. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!"

"Had been to Mariners a couple of times previous and had a good experience both times. I made the host aware of this on entry . Unfortunately today’s experience wasn’t so good . Starters were satisfactory, had rib eye steak for main, was tasty but rather tough. Price was double what I would pay in my local and have to say my local’s steaks are better cuts. The biggest issue with this place is they charge for bottled tap water. They charged us £2.50 Which in the grand scheme of things is not much when you have just spent £120 for 2 people but when I asked the waitress wearer I was being charged for tap water she refused to answer. The main host possibly the owner then came over . I asked the same question to her . Her response was well we didn’t get it out of the Orwell! All I wanted was an honest answer. So hence I won’t be coming back again."

"Stopped here on a Sunday morning for a late lunch. The staff were lovely, but the service was slow. Maybe additional team members needed for the brunch/lunch time. The food, while on the pricier sider, was of fab quality you could tell everything on the lovely full english was of good quality."
