"Do not be deceived by the friendly chat of the owner at this restaurant. Despite promises of a great celebration, our experience was far from pleasant. The toilets were dirty and smelly, with a clear sewage problem. All the staff seemed young and inexperienced, while the owner himself was cheap and controlling. We were charged extra for decorating and cleaning services, which we ended up doing ourselves while he watched and criticized us. The owner even took away the opportunity for us to take photos of cutting the cake, instead instructing his staff to cut it up for the buffet. He refused to serve a pregnant guest a drink until our prepaid wine was finished, just to avoid refunding any corkage fees. The buffet was only available for a short time before being taken away, leaving guests hungry. The owner hounded us throughout the event, complaining about minor issues. The bedrooms were not worth the price, outdated and in need of renovation for the past 50 years."

What a little Gem of a place! Yes the room are pretty basic, but that doesn’t matter, they’re immaculately clean and warm, the breakfast was excellent but the star of our stay was the food, 4 courses for £32 of really well cooked and prepared food, the staff were amazing and the owners were lovely

Me and my fiancé visited to try find out information for weddings and she was given nothing but grief from the owner. Clearly he does not want any business and it’s a real shame as the rudeness takes away from the beauty of the property. We would not book this venue and would urge others not to as well. 1/10

We were recommended by guests at another hotel to try the excellent food at Powfoulis Manor, so we decided to stop by. We enjoyed a delicious 4-course meal for £35 each, with generous portions that were very tasty. The restaurant was impeccably clean, and the staff were attentive. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Can I say PERFECT? I booked a table for Valentine's, and quite honestly I was more than impressed with the food and service. Upon arrival, our coats were taken and we were then ushered into a waiting room for pre-drinks. We were then given the menu and ordered, and in a few minutes, directed into the dining area. It had about 12 tables in total and felt really homey, comfy and intimate. The hubs even said that the roast duck we had was the best he'd ever had! We left last night with happy stomachs and in a food coma. What an excellent night!

Had lunch here for my dads 70th yesterday, couldn’t not fault it. My dad used to go here as a boy when they had a birthday in the family. He had not been back for 40 years. He said it was just as nice as he remembered. The setting is stunning, internally the decor is very traditional. Service is second to none with great attention to detail. The food was extremely fresh and just delicious!!! You can tell everything is made on site and not bought in. Just what we wanted for such a special occasion for my father. Just loved it and will certainly be back. Thank you so much Powfoulis.

This restaurant is in terrible condition, with a shabby and almost dilapidated appearance. The smell around the toilet area is unbearable, and there are calor gas heaters throughout the dining room that gave me a migraine. The dining room was freezing cold. In terms of the food, the soup was passable but the stuffed mushrooms were tasteless mush. The entrecote bordelaise was barely edible, as it was very badly cooked and overcooked to the point of tasting boiled. The sauce was flavorless, and the potatoes and vegetables were boiled to death and incredibly oversalted. The desserts were okay, but the slice of roast beef I tried was of TV dinner quality. Overall, this was one of the worst meals...

First of all i am the person who would only write good reviews to give praise were praise was due and always read the reviews. Totally disappointed with my first trip to this restaurant, when the meals did arrive my daughter in laws katsu chicken was pink and had to be returned and a replacement was brought, same again chicken pink. My husband had the the steak pie and must admit i have never seen mashed potatoes quite like it, though my fish and chips was good, the sticky toffee pudding was cold but reading All the other reviews must have got the chef on a off day. Family are rangers fans and it is a shame that the first time experience at the restaurant has let it down resulting not a retu...

Visited here with family for lunch. 4 courses was around £17.50. We arrived and were sat in the lounge for a drink before we were taken through to the dining area. I ordered the pate, sweet potato soup, the fish and chips and the rocky road cheesecake. Firstly, the Pate was nice although it was a bit bland, the chutney was great but very little of it. The soup was really good and was served with crispy bread slices. The fish and chips was average, the fish was breaded (it didn’t say this on the menu) and wasn’t as crispy as it should’ve been, the chips were the same, rather soggy as if either the vegetables weren’t drained correctly or that the oil was old and wasn’t fried for long enough. "Horrendous attitude from one of the owners/family helpers called Lee. I would like to highlight that Sonia provided a professional customer service experience in comparison to Lee. Placed the order at arrived at When I called at to find out...what was happening, Sonia offered to phone the driver to find out the situation for me, which was good. Whilst waiting on Sonia phoning me back, I received a call from Lee asking me to tell her what the problem was, I explained her colleague was dealing with it she then went on to explain how busy they are, which is understandable and I understand the challenges businesses have at the moment, owning my own. But there was no apology. In fact Lee (who at this point I did not know was the owner/family helper until Sonia told me) went on to tell me it was my fault I ordered from Just eat as they had their own orders to fill first?? Eh hello? It doesn't matter how I place my order, I chose your business to order my dinner from!. Anyway I explained to her that I didn't like her tone of voice and felt she was being really aggressive with me. She asked me if I wanted to cancel my order,I said we have been waiting two hours, so we may as well wait, however she was very forceful and kept saying no I will cancel, I will cancel and then decided to put the phone down on me. I couldn't believe how I had been treated as a customer! Then Sonia kindly phoned back to apologise and I asked whoever that was, should not be in a customer role and I was shocked to be spoken to in that way. She then went on to inform me Lee is the owner/family helper! Shocking. Sonia asked for my details and explained she would let the other owner know what had happened. hours later, I've not heard a peep from the restaurant. So I've made the decision to leave a review after explaining to them, this is what I would do. After waiting over and a half hours and using them for the first time, the food was below average. The pakoras and rice was nice, however the chicken korma was inedible, it was stringy and chewy, the lamb bhuna sauce was nice, the lamb was fatty and chewy. So all that wait for pakora and rice and sauce. We won't be back! Horrendous way to speak and treat customers!"
