"I travelled from Leeds, on Sunday 2nd April, to meet my sister mum from Cumbria at a halfway location and we decided upon Kirkby Stephen. We googled the pubs in town and chose The Pennine Hotel Bistro. It turned out to be a perfect choice. We had a lovely window seat and had Sunday lunch. What am amazing meal!! It was outstanding. Both my sister and I chose the roast beef . It was served with 2 huge, thick slices of beef which just melted in your mouth, accompanied with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, parsnips, broccoli and cauliflower cheese. Such a generous portion. Amazing quality and value!!! It was so delicious. Infact I would give it a score of 10 if I could. We will most certainly be coming back the next time we meet up."

The family run Pennine Hotel is an absolute gem of a place to stay. Shelley and team were so attentive and went out of their way to be helpful. Best breakfast we’ve had in the UK. Gorgeous rooms. This place was quiet when we called on a Friday evening and consequently lacking in atmosphere. It was modern and clean with a reasonably cosy feel and comfortable seating. Food appeared to be a traditional menu,we didn't eat, with reasonable prices. The pub doesn't serve crisps or peanuts but there is a pie warmer on the bar which seemed a bit incongrous with the boutique bistro vibe. Definitely worth a visit,it may liven up later in the evenings and has outside seating which catch the sun and face the square. Ideal for a sunny day.
