Oak Room At Appleby Manor

We have had two meals at this restaurant this week, with a different menu each time. In the ten years we have been dining here, we have never been disappointed with a meal, and this week was no different.

Fine dining meal for my birthday, excellent food and service couldn’t fault it. The staff took care of us from the moment we arrived, lovely meal would recommend the salmon starter and the venison main meal.

We had a wonderful meal at the restaurant! Despite the ‘fine dining’ label, the portions are perfect for you to leave the restaurant and be full! The staff were incredibly welcoming and made the experience even better!

Enjoyed the lunch time food here, choose the crock pots, all in one meals, but ordered side of bread rolls and chips that were so very very good. Bit on the expensive side but it was a treat so did enjoy the whole ambience.

The restaurant is very relaxing and has a lovely atmosphere. We ordered the Lakeland Beef Goulash with sour cream and it was perfect. This dish was a delight, creamy beef that melted and a proper Goulash flavour. Cheese board to finish washed down with a very good medium body red wine. Once again all the waiting staff were excellent, courteous and efficient.

We travelled from Saddleworth on the Pennines to dine at Appleby Manor as we had been given a gift of a fine dining experience. We combined a nights stay and the meal with a trip to Scotland. Beautiful food and an inventive menu, the amuse-bouche was to die for! Very polite and efficient staff, we will certainly make a point of returning to dine when next in the vicinity.

After dining at the Bistro, we made a reservation for the main restaurant for dinner on our second night. We were pleased that we did because the food was outstanding. The additional touches of canapes and soup served in a cup before our starter added to the overall quality of the meal. Two courses of exceptional food for two people, along with a nice bottle of wine for £100? It was worth every penny.

Service was second to none. Lucy in the restaurant was very professional and friendly. The food in the restaurant was superb. We had the 4 course meal. All the food was delicious and well presented. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Loved the wine pairings to go with each dish. Breakfast the next morning was fine. Poached egg a little over done. Could do with fresh fruit salad available rather than just tinned. Other than that it was okay.

After completing Ben Nevis, one of our fellow friends became unwell and was unable to to continue to the other mountains to complete the ’Three peaks’ under 24hrs. We see this amazing castle on route back and checked in later that evening. The grounds facilities are stunning. They where very accommodating with their restaurant menu. We were served with outstanding food and the personal touch especially with the Chef ‘Chris’ who actually came out and presented what we were eating which I thought was a really great touch!
