Had a lunch here with some others good range on the vegan menu, but no vegan cake on that day. Tasty food, good portions, friendly staff. Quirky decor.

the decor is unique and welcoming. as for the menu I was pleasantly surprised by the choice of vegan options. the food was nice and the staff very friendly. I'll be back in when I'm back in dumfries.

Only had a coffee but saw they had an extensive vegan menu, which has to be asked for. Again unfortunately no vegan cakes that day but soups, sandwiches etc. Very comfortable and has WiFi so a good place to work

Have visited here several times for coffee and toast(soya or almond milk and dairy free spread) . Also have had the burger for lunch delicious) . Will return soon to try the breakfast. Found the staff to be really friendly and helpful. Can be busy at peak times.

the staff was very friendly, friendly and courteous. Eat was nice too! I had suppe served with delicious brot. the carrot cake looked beautiful (not vegan). I also had a sliced salted caramel cheesecake, which was really nice, although it was a very small slice. updated by previous review on 2022-06-19

Visit regularly. The vegan options is lovely and there are usually some vegan specials available too. My work regularly buys breakfast rolls from here and my vegan sausage roll is always well wrapped, well labelled and delicious. Staff and owners are super friendly and accommodating. And they’re dog friendly!

Lovely friendly cafe run by people who care about you enjoying your experience. Nothing was too much for them. Visited as an adult family of 5 with 2 dogs. One vegan in the party and plenty of selection as well as delicious vegan cake (lemon cake) and non dairy hot drinks. Clean, quaint and homey feel thoroughly recommend.

what a nice little caffe! the personal was so friendly and welcoming. separate vegan section on menu with many options such as vegan breakfast, burger, toasties, suppe and cheesecake. the burger and the breakfast were both delicious and good portions. the dirty Chai-Latte was the best I ever had! soy, hafer and mandelmilch available.

"My wife found this when looking for a place for us to spend our wedding anniversary. It sounded good on paper. It was a long and tedious drive for us though and I wasn’t sure it was worth it. I was totally wrong! This place is superb and well worth any drive! The setting is great-it has its own beach and there is a small patio where you can sit and there is a heater there too if you need it. There’s a nice lawn in front of the hotel too where those with dogs took them for a walk. The rooms are all different and all well appointed with their own en suite. The costs of the rooms reflects the size of the room and not the facilities. If you are tall like me (6ft 2) I wouldn’t go for one of the rooms in the roof as the coomb ceiling is a pain. However the thing you go there for is the food and that is sublime! It is a set menu in the evening which reduces waste and helps control costs. You get 7 courses, all quite small , but at the end of the meal you are adequately fed but not full. We were there for 3 nights and had a different meal every night. All the dishes were superb but we had mushroom soup one night and it was the best soup I have ever tasted! In fact it was one of the best foods I have ever tasted! The breakfast is very good indeed and you can order whatever you like from the menu which is very comprehensive. I found that set me up for the whole day and I didn’t need a lunch. I must also mention the wine. The wine list is very comprehensive with some difficult to come by wines in it too like Chateau Musar. On 2 nights we went with the wine pairing list which I thought was very good value, especially the cheaper of the 2 lists we had every night. The hotel is a good centre for seeing things in the local area and , despite going in November we found things to occupy ourselves for the 3 days we were there. They have various themed weekends too which sound brilliant. But the hotel is so good it is worth going to anytime. We will certainly be back."
