"The Moonlight was recommended to us in the bar at the Three Swans as the best Indian restaurant in Hungerford -I don 't think they have much competition though as it is a small town. It was pretty good but not spectacular -I hesitated to rate it only three stars average as this seems a little harsh but neither was it really a four star meal very good . To be fair, we only had a takeaway, so i can 't comment on the restaurant 's ambience or service. I had a vegetable dansak which was rich and filling but also a little on the sweet side and not as spicy as I would 've liked it to be. My spinach rice, crispy onion bhajis, poppadoms and mango chutney were all very good though. My partner had a chicken tikka which she described as a bit dry and tasteless but her mushroom bhajia side dish and mushroom pilau rice were both excellent and succulent. My family had various other curries and rice dishes, naan breads, etc. but we were all very hungry so I didn 't pay much attention to them -not much was left, which is usually a good sign! The spinach rice seemed to be a hit with everyone. All in all, if you want an Indian takeaway in Hungerford, this does the job but don 't expect anything that you can 't find on any High Street in Britain -except the excellent spinach rice!"

It’s a take away. It was ok. Had better and had worse. Curries a bit watery and lacking in heat chilli) but perfectly average

I had a takeaway Lamb Curry. It was tasteless and bland really bland. If there us one thing wrong with Hungerford its that it doesn't have a decent Indian restaurant.

Ordered our takeaway at 6.00pm to collect at 7. My husband arrived to collect at 7 only to be told it wasn’t ready, he waited 35 minutes to eventually get the meal. When he got home the food was lukewarm and looked as if it had been thrown into the bag with several items leaking. We won’t be returning

BEWARE, THIS PLACE IS NOT A RESTAURANT. Do NOT go here if you are planning on eating a meal. Went out of our way to go to a restaurant for an evening meal to be treated very rudely when we asked for a table. The place should be shut down for misleading people by calling it a restaurant. IT ISN'T AVOID DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

First time I’ve tried here. Just a takeaway of chicken madras keema rice. Plated the rice. Then the madras. Curry was watery. Which I have seen from some India restaurants. But this was a lot. Which in turn watered down the flavour of the rice. Would go again but only as it’s the only one. Next time I’ll include photos if the same.

First time dining here at the Moonlight on Valentines evening and very impressed. A very warm welcome upon arrival having booked via telephone earlier. We ordered one mains a couple of side orders, pompadours, naan, beer and wine, the quality of food cooked and serving was excellent so if you ever fancy a top notch Indian in Hungerford Moonlight is the place to go! Until our next visit, thank you.

We maybe have take-aways once or twice a year so do not have them very often. We decided to go for an Indian. Really disappointing, big clumps of meat and lots (overflowing) of watery sauce. Every time we go to an Indian restaurant we enjoy it, often say the take-away does not taste the same as the meal you get in the restaurant. Not sure if we will choose Indian again but definitely will not be going to the Moonlight.

Booked a table for six on a Saturday night, which seemed to be a surprise to the person at the phone, which become clear when we were the only clientele in the place for the whole night! That said we had attentive service! We were concerned that the food might be the problem, but that wasn’t the case as both starters and mains were all good with no complaints. Maybe Hungerfordians don’t like curry, but would go again if ever in Hungerford and wanted a curry.

Had a very nice curry last night but it was a very long wait to get it. In these days of coronavirus and social distancing I waited outside. I ordered my takeaway at 19:00 and was told it would be ready in about 30 mins, so I went along at 19:30 to pay and collect. However, it wasn’t ready and there wasn’t any communication from the staff. After waiting a while I asked the staff how long it would be and was told 10-15 minutes. My curry eventually arrived at 21:00, 2 hours after my order was placed and not a word of apology. I accept that it might have taken a bit longer if they have cut back on staff etc. but 2 hours was silly. As I’ve said, the curry was very nice and I shall put this down...

"Went here to celebrate a couple of friends birthdays and had a very mixed evening. It was a Monday night so it was quiet and we were one of only a handful of tables. We were a party of four and there were no tables any larger than ours in that evening. We were seated quickly and that was about the one and only thing that happened all night with any kind of urgency. Our orders were taken and we were waiting 20 minutes or more for our first round of drinks. About half way through this, we were informed that three of the four meals we had ordered were sold out (something you'd think we'd have been informed of at the time of ordering . We thought we could quench our thirst with some water whilst waiting for our drinks but sadly no one ever came over to refill our glasses. When the food finally arrived it was delicious and I couldn't fault it at all (even if it wasn't my first choice on the menu! , so that made up for lack of service. We ordered a dessert each although only 3 of them arrived. My friend had to ask for her coffee which also didn't have any signs of showing and then when her dessert didn't show she just gave up on it (it was never put through the system . I ordered a glass of red wine, specifying the wine and was given a glass of what I assume was house red at least I wasn't mis charged for it as it was cheaper than the one I ordered! Even paying the bill was an ordeal, taking us a while to get it and then having to go through line by line to see if any of the food we ordered and didn't get hadn't been taken off (there was one additional meal on the bill . All in all a bit of a shambles but at least the delicious food and the wonderful company meant it didn't dampen our evening too much. Don't think I'd come back on a quiet night again, seems the service staff take it as a sign to disappear."
