"the thirst forced us to take place on the terrace of Mon-Bistro. we were aware of the annual fair, but completely unconscious of the bierconig tradition. for Euros native (and only native) can participate in the annual election of the beer conig (beer king as... good as a beer queen.) it happened that this day was today. shortly after we met in Mon-Bistro, where they marched together with the current royal couple and accompanied by a band to the Rur Bridge. for the thirty participants already waited a large number of biercists. one after a name was called and a stone from a box was selected. the intention was to hit a bottle on a rock placed some distance into the river. actually, the bottle was put a little closer for the ladies. that went for hours until someone hit the bottle or the beer was gone. I don't know what we left after an hour. it must have been late when we marched the band at midnight under our window. regarding the bistro, it is very cozy and popular among the locals. the personal is friendly and the prices are correct. we had only beer and ate on the road"

small card, but good kitchen. Although this is very well charged, we could eat twice without reservation. the service is very good. we can only recommend this uptro!

After spending an hour on trying to find a restaurant with an open kitchen in the evening (which is not easy in Monschau), we found this place. The food and drinks tasted well and the staff was very friendly and spoke English.

Nice local food. Had some type of onion soup... Very nice. There is a language barrier but the good mood of the staff will solve it. Dont be embarrassed at looking at the other tables and pointing I want that . Quiet place away from the...confusion. Voir le carte

After a nice walk through the village this little bar/bistro is tucked away in a quiet corner. So far all the coffees we had are excellent and now it's time for a glass of Sekt. Lunch was local bread with eggs and bacon but they...also serve Reibekuche which is one of my personal favorites...

At the main entrance was a small terrace with tables that were quiet and inviting. After a day of sightseeing we decided to end the evening at Mon-Bistro. The staff were friendly and came to take our drink order as soon as we sat...down. Bitburger beer was tasty and it was a nice location to watch people go by.

that is a kind of bar that does not come together with a stubborn cozyness. this is about real neighboring bar with a large mix of local and tourist, sharing the best leffe in the city and some real local foods, typical of the Rhinelands. boss is very welcoming,...the perfect service of the waiter would normally be expected in a pariser restaurant, and the tiny kitchen offers a pot wonder. what would you want more? After wandering around the beautiful village of Monschau for a while we decided to look for somewhere to have lunch and, eventually, found this little gem. Very olde-world, it's a German inn of the best kind. We were not put off by the gaggle of...Chinese tourists who were swilling beer at the first table because we had already spotted the tasty-looking food on the plates of the locals. The old couple who ran the place didn't speak English at all but managed to understand my pigeon-German and the food was substantial and delicious. The local unfiltered beer went down a treat and my wife loved the wine too. well worth a visit!

I was giving my colleague a quick one-day' tour of Germany since we had a hour layover in Brussels on our way home from Africa to the US. It was chilly but not raining and we walked through the charming Monschau altstadt' and finally...decided we were ready for our dinner even though it was only pm. Off the beaten path we found Mon-Bistro... a warning, they only take cash which caused us to back track to an ATM we saw back on the main tourist path. My wife is half-German and we have German relatives. The pork schnitzel with mushrooms and their potatoes were (I'm sure) ridiculously heavy in calories and heart-threatening fats, but what a great meal!!! Accompanied with a Bitburg beer, we watch...
