"We went on the off chance, it had been the carnival day here earlier. We were gutted that there was only one pie left (Cornish type as they do look amazing, so it was fish and chips basically they'd had a very good day selling their pies etc. Everything fried to order and was very nice with very good tartare too! Service was smooth you tell the fryer what you want when you go in (so we found out afterwards! and then tell them at the till what you've ordered. For an inland chippy they were excellent, better than many we've sampled over the years and a decent portion too!"

Lovely fish and chips. Loved the homemade tartare sauce. Friendly service. Order exactly as asked. Cooked fresh so didn't mind a bit of wait time.

The most gorgeous fish and chips cooked while you wait. Friendly staff and a lovely area to visit. My only comment would be the mushy peas to sweet for my liking.

Staying locally so thought we’d treat ourselves to a chippy tea. Awful is the only polite word I can use to describe the food. Chips were overcooked and some burnt. Fish was so overcooked it was dry and like rubber; very much doubt it was fresh fish from the taste. Ordered corned beef savouries and got cheese and onion. Not a pleasant experience at all. Waste of the money; and it’s overpriced too!

We came, we saw the menu, we ordered, we won't be back. Very expensive, £7.50 for a fish, portion of chips consisted of 16 chips 4 of which were tiny. In fairness the fish was quite large but had a very thick batter which spoiled it. Glad we tried it on our first day here, so we can go somewhere else for the rest of the week. Some years ago this chippy was fantastic, visited regularly for 10 years.

Lovely food. Delicious haddock. But be aware of small portions. Choice of small, medium or large chips £3). Being hungry adults, and not overeaters, we wrongly thought two haddocks delicious) and a large bag of chips would be a decent size for a family and we could share it. I’d be wary of the other two sizes in comparison if you have a healthy hikers appetite. Thank goodness we had bread to fill the gaps.

We read the reviews on this shop and all gave good comments. We drove to the shop on 8/6/23. The meals were cooked to order and paced in a sturdy cardboard container. We found a nice spot in the countryside to sit and eat our meal with beautiful views all around. The fish was perfectly cooked and the chips were excellent, some of the best chips I have had. We wholeheartedly recommend this terrific fish shop. (It appears a lot agree with us …the picnic tables outside the shop were usually full)

A very clean and welcoming place with friendly staff in a lovely setting what else could you ask for? I travelled from Hartlepool to try them after reading the reviews, I ordered small cod and chips to eat at the table and benches outside these were brought out to me on a plate with cutlery and napkin very nice touch not being in polystyrene and a wooden/plastic fork. The fish was cooked just right with lovely light crispy batter and delicious chunky brown chips I would highly recommend a visit you won't be disappointed

"Started off really well and went over to the counter and ordered a crepe with banana and Nutella and specifically stated no strawberries I also asked for a San Pelegríno still water as this was on the menu also. I was the first person to order and the last to eat in the end. I got brought my water over which was a cheaper brand water that I just paid £2 for what would I have liked to have seen ? We’ll when I asked for san pelligrino still water to be told that they don’t have that in. Finally my crepe comes and I take a bite and realise that it’s got strawberries in all the way through which I’m allergic too. One of my family members takes it back and says that I asked for banana not strawberry there’s a reason why I can’t eat it and didn’t want it on my crepe. Then 5 minutes later another crepe comes out that was my bitten crepe that someone had opened up and picked the strawberries out and put banana in. Disgusting absolutely … not sure if this was a mistake or just being stingy either way it’s not on. It then again gets returned because there is no way I am eating that and it gets explained once again there is a reason I can’t eat strawberries to which then one of the owners comes over to serve the correct crepe and apologise . I really hope a lesson was learnt today because cross contamination is not a joke. Please be careful when eating there. I didn’t get offered a refund but then again they were willing to serve me a bitten crepe again so it didn’t surprise me that much."
