"Found this niche restaurant on the way to the Royal Albert Hall. Menu looked simple, but refined. Asked for a table and thankfully the Manageress squeezed us in on Mother's Day. Squeezed us in? We were shown to a fine table with ample room and...fantastic surrounding decor it will take you back 55 years into a barn! Gratis bread and croudites to start. Sausage and mash and the wife had the chicken. Perfect dinner. Ted was our waiter polite, professional, yet friendly. Couldn't fault the restaurant, the chef, the host, the waiter or the food. 10 out of 10. Thank you Maggie Jones."

Stopped here solo without a reservation early on a Saturday evening, and after initially being told they were booked, they kindly provided a table in the cellar. Lovely atmosphere, wonderful salmon. Ted was a terrific waiter. Highly recommend for a quiet dinner alone, or with...friends or significant other!

I've been eating here for over 27 years and eating here is excellent. so they lead a restaurant. the standards never fall. the French thorn soup is from this world and the steak pipe is to die. only. make sure they call and book, or they never get a table that is busy. I've been my number 1 spot for over 27 years, I love it and so you will.

Saw this interesting place on tic-toc .Husband had prawn cocktail, mediocre .I had bacon Stilton salad which was lovely .Mains I had fish pie ,not packed with much variety and not much taste !!!Hubby had Guinea fowl which he liked .However vegetables were disappointing and...cold .Desserts our order got muddled so had to be redone .Not as impressed as I was hoping to be .Might give them another try at some point but no rush Voir le carte

We are here two weeks ago after walking past it for many years. We had a most lovely evening. The place is warm and cosy with service that was friendly but also very professional. All the food we had was excellent. Delicious white onion soup,...tasty calves liver and good old fashioned crumble. The bread and butter pudding took you back to being at home. You know a place is good when the veg taste terrific! We will definitely not leave it so long next time.

Went to this restaurant for the first time last night with a friend. The service was attentive, friendly displaying a genuine desire to give a good service. I had requested a private sitting and this was taken into account. The food was very good. If...I wanted to be picky I would say that the grilled salmon was slightly over cooked and the Cote du Rhone was not the smoothest I have had but overall the food was great. I would certainly recommend this restaurant and will go back there in a not too distant future. Thank you for a lovely evening out.
