"I'm starting to explore this side of Edinburgh and have heard that Loudons was a super wee spot for lunch; so decided to drop by one cold crisp day. The cafe is large and open inside with table service. As you enter there are numerous high chairs and tables and then the main body of the cafe has a mix of wooden tables and chairs and large comfy sofas. It seems to be a very popular spot for mummies and children as well as the older generation. I was seated and given the menu. I was a little taken aback at the cost of the dishes on the menu, for a cafe they seem just a little overpriced lunch would be on average £10 plus what ever your order to drink. As I wasn't up for a large lunch I opted for the soup with crusty bread. The soup was spicy cajun and lentil. It was extremely good hearty, thick, chunky and delicious. The bread was homemade, thick and fresh. I had a latte coffee. I was impressed that they were happy to sit a solo diner during a busy lunch hour. The service was friendly. I liked it here and will definitely head back for cake!"
