"We enjoyed this place so much that we went twice during our recent stay in Munich. They claim to be the largest beer garden in Bavaria holding up to 8,000 people. It’s not really all that huge since basic seating is for 1,200 and the restaurant can hold 500. in any case, one day we ate from the food stands section and on the other day in the restaurant. The setting is really pretty with lots of trees and grass with a small deer park nearby. The beer garden section has tables that will seat six or more people and are spread out nicely. You do not need to leave a deposit on a beer mug, which makes it easier than some gardens. The first night we had roast chicken, spare ribs, and a selection of sausages including a great currywurst. The sauerkraut was especially good. And what a surprise – we had lots of beer! We ate in the restaurant the next night but still had outside seating under umbrellas. The menu was much more ambitious than just sausages! There were four of us and we sampled a venison stew (remember that deer park??) with a great dark sauce, roast venison, and a mixed grill with pork shank, duck, and pork roast. Dessert was apple strudel and apple fritters. And beer. This was a really fun place with really good food. We seemed to be the only English speakers in the place (with the exception of the wait staff fortunately!). Highly recommended!"

Beer is cold and served quickly, as is the food. Pork knuckle is a must, with tender fall off the bone meat and crisp golden crackling.

Ristorante di cucina tipica bavarese con un buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Si trova a 15 minuti a piedi dal Castello di Nynphenburg, è molto grande ed il servizio è veloce.

Wir waren wieder mal im Hirschgarten, sehr freundlicher Service, nettes Ambiente, sehr gutes Essen. Grosse Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken. Hier kann ich einfach alles empfehlen, besonders auch die bayerische Küche

Im traditionellen Biergarten kann man gut sitzen und für sein leibliches Wohl sorgen. Bei schönem Wetter sitzt man unter Schatten spendenden Kastanien und kann leckeres Bier und z.B. Weiswürste genießen. Falls gewünscht kann man im angeschlossenen Park wunderbare Spaziergänge machen.

Simple. 2nd largest beergarden in the world (according to Guinness), but I'll bet this has the most charm.Find a table, grab a beer, snack on a pretzel or something larger, and park yourself beside the Deer garden (self titled - Hirschgarten in German). Bring the kids, and enjoy the show when the woman with the apples in the picnic basket starts feeding the wildlife.I miss Munich already.

We went to this place because of recommendations. Foods are all right and so is the pricing compared to other restaurants in Munich or Berlin. But the waiter seems to have bias about Chinese tourists. He was seriously impatient when we asked for recommendations at the beginning. Not happy to ask any of our questions later. Then when we pay the deal, he asked for tips straight way. If you want a tips, at least you have to do something right.We ended up with no tips, and guess what he comment: nobody likes to serve Chinese because Chinese don't pay tips...What a arrogant guy...

Schöner Biergarten,die Qualität des Essens läßt zu wünschen übrig . Letztens wieder halbe Ente blaß,kaum gewürzt. Um 12:30 mittags. Mittagsgerichte mal Convenience,mal überwürzt( Wildpflanzerl)Steht wahrscheinlich nicht immer jemand am Pass und kontrolliert...Service professionell ,klar.Als mir der wind die karten vom Tisch blies und sich 2 x Johannisbeersaft über mich und meinen Kleinen ergoss,erst keine Reaktion. Geschäftsleitung am Nebentisch guckt weg ,Peanuts halt bei der Menge an Leuten.Lass die Rolex pendeln und mach auf dicke Hose,dann wird auch gesprungen,halt wie überall.Trotzdem mal probieren,ich hatte nur Pech.

Das Essen entspricht im Restaurant der gehobenen Preisklasse, der Service ist hervorragend. Empfehlenswert ist sicherlich das hier ausgeschenkte Augustiner-Bier. Wer allerdings zum offenen Wein greift, erhält ein sprudelndes, anfangs etwa einen Zentimeter hoch schäumendes, dauerhaft perlendes Getränk, das von einer stark kohlensäurehaltigen Weinschorle nicht ohne weiteres zu unterscheiden ist. Die Mitarbeiter erklären dazu sehr freundlich, dass das halt so sei, weil der offene Wein (weiß und rot) aus Containern stamme, von wo er unter Gasdruck zum Ausschank gelange. Das sei eben so.
