Jekyll & Hyde - Menu

This was our first time here and it was nice, but not excellent. We will try again as you cannot judge a restaurant on a culinary experience.

Twice now ignored by staff so have walked out without ordering food. Seems to have a lot to do with Badger ales. Old inside with good character feel.

The Jekyll & Hyde is a fairly busy food pub with a large car park on the A30. The pub has a pleasant old-fashioned look with lots of smaller rooms.

The young boy waiters had no idea what to do. Lighting is so poor could hardly read the menu or eat my food. Menu seemed greatly reduced to what I remembered and was poor in choices. Just disappointing.....

The first time I was in this pub, even though it drove many times. Unfortunately, I wouldn't mind going back because the service was terrible and not writing the food home. Such a shame as it looks charming from the outside.

Food was good when the kitchen had corrected the order (we asked for chicken burgers, no cheese and it came with cheese and steak with salad instead of chips and steak came with chips! Beverages were taken from the final invoice, which was estimated!

First visit, the greeting, service and food was excellent The server Francesca was excellent, great personality and made sure that we had everything we wanted. Will definitely return again. It was one of the tastiest meals we have had for a long time.

Food was the best thing ! We arrived at 8pm enjoyed the starters and main but when we wanted to order dessert at 9.30 the kitchen was closed! None of the staff mentioned that the kitchen was closing. After a couple of coffee we wanted to round the meal of with a brandy again without warning the bar was also closed, something of a surprise at 10.30 on a Friday night!! The only time during the whole evening the staff seemed to be focused on their work was when they started to put chains on the doors ! We were pushed out into the car park and the door resoundingly locked behind us ... Time 10.35 Very disappointing!

The Jekyll Hyde had advertised that they were under new ownership so we booked lunch there. We had not been near the place since August 2015 when a rare, family get together had been spoiled by poor service. The lunch was for my partner and I to celebrate my Birthday so I was taking a risk. When I booked I didn’t advise it was a special occasion. I am delighted we took the risk as we had a three course meal (starters of Tiger Prawns and Whitebait both delicious which was very tasty and were served by friendly and professional staff. The new owner came over to speak to us which was appreciated. We will be returning as we feel this place is now in capable hands :
