"the restaurant hövelmann with large terrace is located directly with views of the dom, on the marketplace of the medieval city center of xanten. the former St. viktor church is equipped with important artistic value and altar. the 1-hour domizil was very interesting. we then met the worldly joys in hövelmann ́s. the restaurant des hövelmann is modern equipped. grey column frame modern pictures and indirect red lights. the walls are painted in a friendly yellow. on the windows are oversized glass vessels with candles. the tables carry blossom white tablecloths with yellow cover. in the middle a cromargan plate with a rusty. the colorful serviettes are folded into bishop's capsules. a sprinkler is ready. the dark large wood counter is a space further. here there is a high date with bar stools before for smaller rounds. service we were welcomed and allowed to choose a window. the trained service forces are nice, but rather stiff. each of the two ladies is attentive and serves every table. there are both daily meals and regional and international dishes. because we are so close to the water, we choose from the tageskarte matjes. once with housewife sauce and bratkartoffeln (11,90€ and on the other with merrettichpüree (8,90€) the matjes very delicate and tasty in taste. in a pan baked, with smoked speck and swirl very good. the housewives sauce very well refined with swirl and apple. a beautiful creamy consistency, wonderful in taste. I could've been in here. the potato puree creamy and with freshly grated merrettich. a taste experience first quality. a small salat leaf lay on both plates for garnitur. also here was thought and both leaves were provided with a vinaiigrette so they liked the leaf. kulinaral very good kitchen from fresh regional products. to recommend."

In the restaurant you get a friendly welcome and good service. The menu offers something for every taste at acceptable prices. The quality of the food is good. We will definitely come back when we are in Xanten.

Sehr schönes Restaurant in toller Lage. Hier wird man von Fachpersonal bewirtet, was ja immer seltener wird. 5 Sterne alleine für die Kellnerin und auch die Speisen waren ungewöhnlich, aber äußerst lecker. Ein Muss, wenn man in Xanten Essen gehen will! Voir le carte

Das Duroc Kotelett war köstlich und auf den Punkt zubereitet, der Matjes war ebenfalls lecker. Die Bedienung freundlich und kompetent, wenn es um eine Weinauswahl ging. Wir kommen gerne wieder und empfehlen das Restaurant auch gerne weiter.5* geben wir gerne, weiter so!

Had a good meal sitting outside, with the entertainment of a local brass band and procession group. (Most went to the cathedral, but the rest to the beer tent! we chose typical local dishes, which were of good quality, and more than sufficient portions. Staff friendly and helpful. Bill was reasonable, not cheap, but good value for money.
