"Visited with a party of 7 for an evening meal for a special family occasion. At their request, we pre ordered in advance from the menu to 'help the kitchen staff '. Arrived a few minutes late for our booking but before all of our group had arrived, they started to bring the food without warning! When you have a normal table booking, without a pre order, you usually arrive, select from the menu wait! Why was our food expected to be on the table the minute we walked through the door! Although the food was very nice We felt rushed (tried to clear plates before food was finished) unwelcome probably won 't eat here again. So disappointed."

"My wife and I ate at Chao Baan for the first time and are delighted to have found this restaurant. Too often we use the word ‘authentic’ to describe dishes but this chef/manager pair truly deserve the word. I was instantly taken with the menu, a Thai restaurant that at last understands that less is more. An adequate choice of dishes, not page after page of confusion, and a loving declaration that the dishes won’t be adjusted on request. Perfect! We enjoyed crispy spring rolls and king prawns as a sharing starter, I chose the king prawn and asparagus dish while my wife opted for the spicy chicken salad. Both dishes were outstanding. Indeed, we both noticed flavours we hadn’t experienced before, and these no doubt would be from Bangkok sourced ingredients. Service was faultless and obviously, we’ll be back for more."

"My favourite local cafe, you feel relaxed and valued as a customer whether on your own for a quiet breakfast/brunch or with friends for a get together for lunch, Afternoon Tea or special themed evenings. The musical performances make a pleasant background. The food is delicious (some unusual options are available, always well prepared by Fran, a very knowledgeable traveller) These are authentic tasting as well as offering an insight into other cultures.People travel a long way to enjoy this food but tellingly there is a huge fan base of regulars. Well deserving of five stars."

"it was 12 of us booked and we had preordered our starters and nets. there were 3 or 4 changes in the night and it could not go smoother. we all had a fantastic night with delicious food. the plates had a lot on them, and everything was cooked as the people wanted it to be cooked (the steaks). the workers are welcoming and nothing was too much annoyed. would go again. if there was a thing I would have changed, I would like to have clobed chips with my stroganoff and hubby would have liked them as standard with his steak, there was not much to the pommes."
