Zunfthaus zur Haue - Carte

Friendly people, good beer and very good food. Really the best lamb I've ever tried. They also felt me home. I'd give more than 5 if possible.

Die Lage ist super. Das wars dann aber auch schon: Das Mittagsmenu war wirklich mit wenig Inspiration hingepfeffert, ebenso der Salat zu beginn: In jeder Kantine gibts mehr Vielfalt. Gesalzen ist dann aber die Rechnung. Für 1 Liter Räzünser-Wasser bezahlt man satte 13 Franken! Sorry, das ist einfach zu viel. Das Personal war hingegen sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Enter, and went to the toilet to wash hands, etc. before eating. A very rude waitress ran after us and said we had to order food before we could go to the toilet. We asked if we could order the toilet and the answer was, no. You can only imagine how filthy is their kitchen if it is not allowed to wash hands, not even customers, so I am sure you don't want to eat anything that touched their chefs. Samstag Abend um 20 Uhr bestellte jede Person einzel aus der Menü-Karte sein Essen. Ich bestellte als 3. Person Zürich-Geschnetzeltes mit Rösti. Antwort: Es gibt leider keine Rösti mehr,da bereits 2 mal an unserem Tisch Rösti bestellt wurde.Ich könne zwischen Reis oder Teigwaren wählen. Sowas in einem Zunfthaus in Zürich, Samstag 20 Uhr, Lokal zur Hälfte besetzt.Wie weit ist unser Gastgewerbe gefallen?Das Essen war ok ausser 1 Person hatte Kalbsleber die mit zähen Sehnen durchzogen war.

This beautiful restaurant was recommended by our hotel. The staff was very friendly to us as an American (which was not always the case in Switzerland). Our dinner was delicious... the pumpkin soup, Melone Carpaccio, homemade gnocchi with bolognese sauce, calf Cordon Bleu and another dish I can't remember the name out, as well as the millefeuille for dessert. Everyone was happy with dinner and warm service. Also they did not charge for tap water as it seems to be custom in Switzerland! The restaurant was easy to find in the old town.

Wir hatten als Apéro einen Yvorne, Wasser und danach eine Flasche Sassi Grossi aus dem Tessin, einer der besten Weine aus dem Kanton. Zum Essen, Kalbshaxe und Kalbsleber jeweils mit einem zwar kleinen, aber fluffigem, sämigen Risotto. Die Leber war gut angebraten, noch leicht rosa und super zart, die Haxe ultra zart und schön weich, nicht fettig oder durchwachsen, gut gewürzt mit einer feiner Sauce. Die Millefeuille (Cremeschnitte) ein Traum, sehr fein, die Cremefüllung fantastisch leicht und fluffig, sehr guter Geschmack und auch der Schlagrahm ultra leicht und überhaupt nicht dinierend, ein absolutes Muss. Das Haus war über lange Jahre die Zunftstuber der Hauer und Gewürzhändler. Deshalb ist das Kamel bzw. Dromedar allgegenwärtig im Wappen auf Tisch und Wänden. Gebäude und Gaststätte strahlen die selbstverständliche Gediegenheit aus, wie man sie so fast nur in der Schweiz findet. Die Einrichtung wurde im Kern seit langem nicht verändert, ledglich behutsam modernisiert. Die gleiche Orientierung zum Bewährten und Althergebrachten findet man in der Küche wieder, als hätte sich die Kochkunst ein Jahrhundert lang nicht entwickelt. From the moment we entered this beautiful establishment until we left, I couldn't be more satisfied. The menu is designed for those with an epicurious approach to Swiss cuisine and this did not disappoint. The kitchen is located in earshot and eyesight of the diner, so one feels as though they are constantly sitting at the chef's table and we took full advantage of this with the great feast we'd ordered. With Wildsaison just about closing, it was a great opportunity to see how this esteemed restaurant presents Reh (venison) and the gamey side dishes. Hiding in plain sight! I don 't know why we have never really noticed this historic and attractive Old Town restaurant before, over the years that we have lived in Zurich. I guess this was because it has one of the smallest, least obtrusive frontages of the zunfthaus restaurants on Limmatquai (this disguises a much bigger hospitality venue inside). Having found that all my other choices were fully booked for a pre Christmas dinner, I was relieved to find that The Zunfthaus zur Haue could accommodate our party of six.
