"During our stay at lodges in Cupar, we were recommended The Tavern for dining. We were pleasantly surprised by our experience. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome and were seated promptly. The waitress was polite, courteous, and friendly. Although there was a 40-minute wait for our food, it was freshly prepared to order. We enjoyed the steak pie and haggis chicken, both of which were delicious. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert. We will definitely return to The Tavern when we are in the area again."

"If you love BBQ you will enjoy the delicious smells wafting through the barn as soon as you enter. The meat is cooked right there in the barn next to the dining area and the tantalising aroma was driving me crazy as we waited for our order. The food is fantastic, we had the fillet steaks and in our large group others had the chicken kebab, the pork chop, the beef burger and the chickpea burger, all of it looked wonderful and had glowing reviews. They do annoyingly serve their food on wooden boards which is a pet peeve of mine due to it being unhygienic but only a minor tribulation. The atmosphere is very informal and casual despite the high prices so it's a bit of a strange balance there. You don't necessarily feel like you're out for a fancy meal as you're sitting in a barn with stark lighting, but the food is really high quality and that is reflected in the bill! Service was friendly though a bit scattered our server got the drinks order wrong three times in a row, but maybe he was new? Over all a nice place to enjoy a casual, very tasty Sunday lunch as a treat. We'll definitely go back. "This is the best takeaway option for taste and value in the area. The Thai food is especially outstanding! For those with dietary restrictions, there are dairy-free and vegan choices available. Parking is very convenient, as there’s a dedicated car park. It seems to have a wheelchair ramp for accessibility. As for the service, it's excellent. We ordered dinner, and the price per person was between £20 and £30. Overall, I’d rate the food a 5, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 3."

"Have been dining at the Road Hole for many years now, always at Christmas time, and it has always been a 5 star experience. This time was no different, every course cooked to perfection, plated perfectly and totally delicious. But from previous years it makes me a little sad to see the menu become somewhat downgraded and limited. It seems to be trending towards being just a grill restaurant for main course, the options were steak, steak, steak, venison, cauliflower steak, or halibut. Not being a steak/red meat fan, that leaves just one choice for me. As luck would have it, a great choice that suits me well, but still. In my opinion, the chef and team there are so talented that they're wasted just turning out steaks. The scallops starter and apple millefuille dessert prove that. What's happened to the days of the 7 course taster menu? Hopefully this steak focus is simply a Covid necessity and the menu will expand again soon. The price is certainly still at fine dining levels. But with the Swilkin loft next door (where we haven't been) offering more variety I really hope the vision here isn't to lose fine dining and have the Road Hole become an expensive Sands grill in essence as I said, it has been a masterclass in fine dining for so long that would be a real shame. One other slight wrong note no dessert wine available on the day (from only one menu option by the glass) and the port ordered as a replacement had also ran out. Not a disaster but again, hoping that isn't indicative of a move away from a proper fine dining experience. However, to come back the meal itself was truly superb, a great experience. Staff were excellent as always too."

"I had a great experience at this restaurant with good, hearty pub food at a reasonable price. The only downside was that there was an 11-year-old birthday party happening which made conversation a bit difficult, although I believe this is not a common occurrence. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant. I highly recommend trying the Chicken Pot Pie and Fish and Chips. Overall, I would give this restaurant a 4 out of 5 for food, 5 out of 5 for service, and 4 out of 5 for atmosphere. The price per person was between £10-£20 for dinner."
