"Yesterday (22nd. November) was our first visit to The Griffin and as soon as we walked in we experienced a warm welcome enhanced by the warmth from the log fire in the bar. We were taken to a table and handed the menus which were more extensive than expected. The service was always with a smile and timely ensuring that the food and plates arrived nice and hot. My “Lamb’s liver+bacon+mash+veg:” selected from the day’s ‘Specials’ blackboard was delicious. The two ladies accompanying me had the Pork Escalopes from the main menu and declared them to be really excellent. Afterwards, although a ‘macchiato’ was not on the list of available coffees, the lady serving us offered to try and make two. The first attempt was not quite right but the second attempt was perfect. Our lunch at the Griffin was a very last minute decision due to the Wye Knot Stop café opposite being closed (despite their website saying otherwise) and as it turned out, we were pleased that they were. It was due to the efforts of those who served us and especially those working in the kitchen that our lunches at The Griffin were so very enjoyable . . . so it’s a “Hvala” from Croatia."
