"In fairness we arrived late (although advising the restaurant in advance, and ordering our meal whilst in the car). Nonetheless the food was not up to standard and we were very disappointed. As long time patrons of the now closed sister restaurant in Amersham, where we were well known and often visited, this branch was nowhere near as good. Our waitress was excellent, but her manager (we assume) was somewhat ambivalent. We queried the cost of an item on our bill, which was dealt with, but we caught the manager rolling her eyes to her colleague. Likewise, a member of our party who is smoker, left the restaurant to smoke outside. The manager closed the restaurant doors, rolled her eyes again, and then very obviously started to wave her hands to move the air away from her. This sort of attitude and conduct is unbecoming, childish and serves only to alienate the customer. I doubt we will return."

Gilbeys Eton is one of our favourite restaurants and a recent lunch with friends confirmed they have not last their touch.

Lovely host, clean and tidy eatery, service very goog, but value for money I don’t think so. I can’t get over 5 chips for £6.50, it left a bitter taste in my mind. So won’t be returning. Sorry

The food was delicious. The tables are too close to each other considering the size of the whole restaurant area. The door to the corridor leading to kitchen area should have been closed at all times. As there was a “smell” of food from kitchen, and then a few flies appeared. Which wasn’t attractive. Because the table were close, I felt that I could ‘t truly relax fully enjoy the dining experience. Not sure if I will be back.
