"My partner and I stumbled across this very traditional German restaurant by chance, and we were glad we did! It was a hidden gem! Decked out with what feels like a traditional bavarian style. Great selection of food, typically a lot of pork and done very well! Sausage platter and the Wiener Schnitzel are good places to start!! The Owner Peter and a lady called Kerstin were extremely friendly and very helpful, explaining the food to us in English, pointed out some good german wines to try, engaged in conversation and gave us some great tips for the city, other bars and places to go for views etc. even took the time to write stuff down for us, what transport we needed, costs and took some photos of us! I would definitely recommend a stop to this place!!! we did a couple of times...... ( Ps, they have outdoor seating across from the main entrance )"

We had some great soup on a chilly, rainy day: liver dumpling soup and goulash soup, followed by a sampler plate of typical Bavarian sausages with homemade mashed potatoes (delicious) and sauerkraut. Everything was delicious. Be sure to try the apple strudel for dessert!

We've found this place on Tripadvisor and decided to go here for some local food. It was a great choice, as the food was indeed delicious, with too many options to choose from. We've had sausages with sauerkraut, very fairly priced. If you get to visit this place anytime soon, ask for "kellerbier", which isn't on the menu. It's absolutely delicious!!

a protected outdoor area in the pedestrian zone colonnaden / ecke theaterstraße we found here after a city walk. an eminently friendly service took the order from midday and weekly offer and the drinks, and after a short waiting period we already received the lovingly prepared food, which has surpassed our expectation. it tasted excellent and has found great appeal with us. I had dinner with the family the night we arrived in Hamburg. Nothing special - food was ok and the service very poor and unpleasant. The worst was the existence of a rat in the dining room. The employees trying to disguise, and the owner with absurd justifications. Complete lack of hygiene and inadequate sanitary conditions to serve the public. I do not understand how the authorities do not inspect and supervise ...

located in a central location near a pedestrian zone and well visited by tourists and locals, the restaurant in the interior looks very characteristic with lots of wood. excellent traditional German dishes: haxe, variously prepared pork, soupen etc. I liked the typical Bavarian ravioli filled with meat and vegetables, immersed in a delicious mushroom cream. it is possible to eat outside on a very quiet place. staff very helpful and easy to English.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
