"We stayed here for a couple of nights while doing a bit of hiking in the Galloway Hills. I knew they had a vegan menu as I'd seen it mentioned on Happy Cow but when you walk into the restaurant you really wouldn't know it! The menu they hand you doesn't mention any vegan dishes, there's nothing telling you to ask for the vegan menu and the staff didn't mention it! But it really does exist! And it offers four vegan mains which is great for a pub in a small town in Scotland! You can choose from a vegan roast, a vegan burger, a penang curry or a sweet potato mushroom tart. We had the first couple of options which were pretty decent if not amazing. Expect chips with everything it's that kind of place! Updated from previous review on 2022 04 11"

"We had a really excellent meal last night at the Cree Inn, to celebrate my son 's 15th birthday. The staff were attentive and really friendly, the dining area was cosy (if a little cool) and comfortable, and the food was excellent. This is not 'pub grub ', it was excellent quality, beautifully cooked and delicious. There were 6 of us eating, we all had starters and mains, and 3 had desserts. With drinks included the bill was around £170, which these days offers really fair value, and for the quality it was excellent. Compliments to the chef, and all of the staff. Vegetarian options: We had 2 vegetarians in our group, and there was a good choice. Starters were halloumi or a cheesy tart, and I chose garlic bread instead. Mains included a delicious mushroom risotto, basil and tomato pasta and a couple of other options. Parking: There is a small car park to the rear with space for around 4 cars, or free roadside parking nearby. Kid-friendliness: We had 2 teenagers in our party, and there was another child eating with their family, and they were all very happy. I didn 't see any high chairs or other specific options for younger children, but we didn 't ask or go into any other rooms, and there is a children 's menu with plenty of choice."

"Massive portions of very tasty food, egg fried rice is really good, as are the chips. Reasonable prices too. The only issue is that they are too popular, so you need to order well in advance. We couldn't find a menu online, so, instead of phoning up we popped in at 5:40pm on a Thursday evening to order and were told to come back for the food at 7:10pm! When I was picking mine up (spot on 7:10pm to be fair) they were turning people away, saying it would not be ready by 9 pm when they closed. I've posted pics of the menu so you can order well in advance"

The food was exceptional, earning a perfect score of 5 out of 5. I highly recommend trying the Scottish Breakfast and the Fish and Chips, as both dishes were outstanding. The service was equally impressive, also rated 5 out of 5, with attentive staff that made the evening enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a delightful meal. Overall, a great place to eat!"
