"We went to the Burlton today for lunch, we were looked after extremely well, by the lovely young waitress, nothing was too much trouble. The four of us all had different main courses but they all came out at the same time and perfectly presented. Ennio came out and personally greeted us which was very nice touch. It was such a shame that there was only the four of us dining, I know January is a difficult month, but please put the Burlton on your list for a visit soon, don't let us lose another pub."

Have eaten here several times in the evening and always warm and a good atmosphere, however lunch today it was very cold and uninviting like eating in a barn

Welcoming and cosy pub. Lovely fresh decor. Friendly, fun and attentive staff. Service was great, food excellent. Little gem. Only live close by and will definitely be back. Thank you.

I stopped by for lunch today while passing by and found a hidden gem. This charming rustic country pub, with a warm and friendly owner, served up excellent, freshly prepared food at a great value. I will definitely be returning. Voir le carte

I recently had lunch with a group of friends at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. One of our friends has a gluten intolerance and was pleased with the variety of options available. I would definitely recommend this place.

We so enjoyed the fabulous Christmas lunch here recently. On arrival we were shown to our table and welcomed with prosecco and canapes. A delicious start to our meal. Everything following was beautifully presented and equally tasty! Ennio certainly worked his magic in the kitchen!!

Visited yesterday with a group of friends for lunch. We had a very pleasant experience and all thoroughly enjoyed our food. We all chose a variety of choices from the menu and all of our group described their lunch as delicious. I chose the rib eye steak which was extremely tasty and tender. Voir le carte

Visited for a reunion with a group of friends for lunch. We had different meal choices and everyone thought the food was delicious. I chose the rib eye steak which was exceptional! It was so tender! The lady who served us was extremely pleasant, and it was a superb venue for a really enjoyable lunch.

We decided to have lunch at this restaurant because the menu was more appealing to us than the dinner menu. It was fairly quiet for a mid-week lunch, which didn't create much of an atmosphere, but the bar service was excellent. The meals we ordered were all delicious and exactly as described. The prices were also reasonable for a pub menu. We planned to go back for steak night but missed out. Overall, we would recommend this restaurant.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
