Black Bull Inn - Carte

Lovely atmosphere. Food was tasty, but puff pastry had no puff and the side of carrot and parsnips were warm at best. Also, no cranberry to be seen mentioned this to a member of staff and nothing happened

Today was our first visit to the Black Bull, and I am pretty sure it won’t be our last. The quality of the traditional pub grub, was equally matched by the excellent service and atmosphere throughout the bar and restaurant.

The staff were so informative and friendly catered to all our needs it was a special occasion and we felt truly embarrassed and looked after. The food was awesome and I can’t wait to come back again, this was my first visit and it will not be my last x Voir le carte

From time to time you go somewhere that’s memorable for various reasons. It could be the company, the atmosphere, the food and drink “who know’s”. But whatever it is the event is memorable. In my humble opinion the Bull is one of those places. The food is excellent, the attention to detail spot on. I tip my “metaphorical” hat to everyone. Brilliant service and superb work ethic which should be applauded.

Without a doubt, one, if not the best Christmas days and meals. The decorations, the attention to detail, the service, the personal touches, the wine and drinks and the incredible meal were faultless. To offer the 'we cook, you carve ' was genius and made the experience so personal and family focused but with all the normal hassles of a family meal removed by the fantastic attentive staff. If I could book today for Christmas 2025 I would. Thank you to Becky and her team. Merry Christmas

We were sitting in the Barn and chose from the festive menu. There was plenty of choice on the menu and it was well worth the price. The portion sizes were very generous and the meal was delicious. The courses were evenly spaced which allowed us the time for chatting, relaxing and we were certainly not rushed or pressured to leave. Our table was ours for the evening. Despite how busy it was, the staff were very attentive, always smiling and nothing was too much trouble for them. We will definitely return. An amazing firework display to mark the new year. Some mixed reviews recently and I’ve also had some issues in the past but I have to say our early evening NYE experience was excellent. Despite booking a few weeks in advance we could only get in the bar around 5pm for 4 of us. On arrival the car park was rammed and the place was full of atmosphere. Most of us decided to have the £60 NYE fixed menu which provided some good 3 course choices, plus a glass of Prosecco and arancini on arrival, a champagne sorbet palate cleanser, and coffee and chocolates to finish. We arrived just before 2pm for our 2pm reservation. After being seated promptly, we waited for quite some time before our drinks were taken and our orders were placed. The starters took another three quarters of an hour to arrive. The goat's cheese dish we ordered was disappointing, with a small piece of cheese and a lot of tasteless beetroot. The bread was also stale. Some of us had soup, which was okay but lukewarm, and, once again, the bread was stale. After another long wait, our main courses finally arrived. I dined with here a week ago now. It was meant to be a very special occasion and it was ruined. We were told different things about the menu by different staff, which is frustrating when trying to order. Some things on the menu were not available, but this was not pointed out to us until we tried to order them, meaning an even longer unnecessary wait. The food was lovely, when we did eventually get it, as the wait time was quite long. We had ordered a white wine, the wrong wine was brought to the table twice.
