There was nothing to fault here. Accommodation was beautiful and the food was outstanding. Service exceptional. If you’re ever visiting Oxford then definitely seek this place out. You won’t regret it.

We have visited this charming countryside pub twice now and the service and food were both excellent. The decor is lovely, with comfortable sofas to relax on while waiting for your table. It was convenient to be able to pre-order our meal so we didn't have to wait long to eat.

Stayed for be night and could not have been more happy. The service from the moment we walked in was exceptional. From sitting in front of a real fire to eating the incredible food I cannot sing the praises of this establishment loudly enough. If you are visiting Oxford then you must stay here. Voir le carte

I have made it a birthday and also a pre Christmas tradition to eat, drink and be merry down here and stay overnight, even though I live in the village the accommodation is unbelievable. Also a splendid spot for nearby Oxford, by far the best pub in Cumnor, with a roaring open fire to sit by. Give it a try.

The decor is very tasteful, with cozy sofas in the waiting area where you can relax before being seated. Pre-ordering your meal eliminates the need to wait, and the food itself is delicious. A top recommendation for sure.

What a delight. Expected pub food and found delightful dining. Lovely and friendly and food that was special. The chilli squid starter was fresh, crisp and not at all oily. The single serving beef wellington was a delight. Wow. And my wife had venison “shepherd’s” pie. And they have rooms. Did not see them but this place is excellent and worth a visit. Voir le carte

A wonderful post Christmas lunch with the in laws cheese on sourbread toast accompanied with a mug sized bowl of roast parsnip soup, perfect size to not overdo my tummy! Once you've got over the single step entrance, wheelchair access is not a problem (not sure if an accessible toilet is available). Helpful staff turned down the background music speaker which was too loud for me.

We spent 3 nights at The Bear and Ragged Staff in a beautiful room, absolutely loved the size of the room, massive bed, old oak doors, it was just fantastic. Ate in their fabulous restaurant where we were treated to amazing quality food locally sourced and a great choice of meals!!! We can't thank the staff enough, nothing was too much for them, always friendly, and the service excellent, we really can't recommend staying here enough!!

I used to love this place and have left good reviews before, but after my visit last night, I can't do that now. The restaurant was only half full on a Saturday night, which was concerning. My starter, the ham terrine, was delicious, but the bread and piccalillo were not great. The main course I wanted, the blade of beef, was sold out so I ordered the venison cottage pie instead. It was a big mistake - the potato was tasteless and there were only small bits of meat with no flavor or sauce. A year ago, I had the garlic chicken here and it was amazing. Owners, take note - we vote with our money, so get back to your previous standards or risk going out of business. Voir le carte
