"The main assets of Bát Đạt are the understated but elegant décor and the extremely polite and keen service staff. That is sufficient to seduce most foreign customers. The food takes forever to come out of the kitchen, and when it does finally reach the table, is disappointing: while not bad, it's not authentic. The phở broth is too salty; the beef is a bit chewy; it's not served with a plateful of fresh herbs as would be the case elsewhere; and while this is Geneva, at CHF 24 per bowl, it is 2-3x the price of the best phở in Paris, California or Texas (or 6-8x the price in VN). The tiny cà phê sữa đá (Việt iced coffee) tastes more of condensed milk than coffee. But what to expect in a city with a small Vietnamese population and hence low competition?"
