Augusta Mannheim - Menu

Quality and taste of the food of this Italian Restaurant is not what I would have expected. It was below of Italian Restaurant already tested.

We were a larger group having dinner in Augusta. The place was quite full. It took around min to get our first drinks. We tried meat, fish, pastas and pizzas. The pizza base were pre-made, thus order something else. The pats was not that...great either.

Italian food is available around the world, but the quality is not always the same. At Augusta, the Italian cuisine is evident from the menu to the dessert. Stracciatella soup, spaghetti alle vongole and tortufo, all with a decent Barolo wine was what I had,...all for a decent price. I would visit again to taste their other offerings.

I went here during a business trip since it was close to the hotel and reviews looked ok. It is a family run restaurent, so it on the one hand very personal and on the other hand service might be shacky if they just happen...to chat with good friends at their table. I only had a tomato soup and pizza bread, since I wasn't very hungry. Both were good, even though the soup was not as creamy as other I had in the past.

Fully occupied tables outdoors and front of house were a good sign and so it proved. Family run which is good and bad in that there's a warm, buzzy Italian atmosphere, but the service is a bit hit and miss! Very Italian and...fun if you're not in a hurry. Food as you might hope is excellent and wine by the glass not expensive. Definitely worth visiting if you're staying in the rather dull City Augusta hotel across the road.

Visited this tratoria after one year and it remains a pleasure to eat there. Requested Bugatini instead of spaghetti, no problem Signor! Asked for olive oil and vinegar dressing, no problem Signor! And the matrciana sauce was excellent, especially with the Pecora no cheese that...apparently is not appreciated by the local patrons. I was able to dine on the covered outdoor patio (with heaters) in late September. It was a true pleasure at a reasonable price. I will definitely be back.

The place could looks not so special from outside and at the beginning, but when you are into the Human relation with Giovanni's family and his food, you will love his Humanity and his way of life. From a little town of southern Italy to...the bright life of top Mannheim society. He is involved in sports and political activity, with an amazing energy which last since years. High quality raw food, cooked with love, accompanied with great drinks. Try it if you are in Mannheim and you will know the heart of the city. And the prices are well balanced.

I've been here before for work dinners, but never remembered the service as being this bad. The father was just fine, but the middle-aged son who seems to run the business was an absolute unfriendly jerk to anyone who was not German speaking! He walked...around asking all German tables how their meals were and then set my food down in front of me without a word, no eye contact...just plop! I went to pay and mid-credit card charge he just walked away with my card outside to help other German guests. Completely without a word! Just because guests don't speak German doesn't mean they don't deserve service! Food was ok, but Germified Italian for sure! Try a little harder next time, people!

the ristorante augusta is operated in very affectionate manner by a family, and that is what you notice in every sight: it is used only very good ingredients, eating was always excellent, the service very friendly. And what I don't want to conceal at this point: The...kitchen is really very clean and hygienic.
