"I live in Hamburg and was here for the first time. Regarding the interieur this restaurant can compete with restaurants in metropolitan cities. Usually we are not so spoiled in this city. If you like people watching, you can do that here. Lots of hip and wanna be hip.I did like it. We had beer, white wine and red. These were all reasonable priced an tasty. Service was very good. We had a Goat Cheese Burger, Cheeseburger and the wild boar pasta. As well as sharing two Sweet Potato Fries. The Burgers are not that large, but they tasted quite nice (much better then at Peter Pane Restaurant, who are known now for Burgers. Meat was a lot better at Atelier F, freshly ground the service lady told us).As dessert I had the Mousse au Chocolat, also made from scratch. All resonable price for this prime location in the city. Where do you get a dessert for 4 EUR that pleases three people?Just good food here. Not more not less."

Place is really nice. The garcon was very friendly. Food: don't expect too much. We had burgers and chicken wings. Food is ok , location is beautiful, Service was great

We were 4 people, and we all had different meat dishes... all of them really nice, as well as the side dishes. We also had a tuna tartar... too small and not so good. The service was very kind.

While we were attracted by the nice design of the place and the menu, in the end, we were disappointed. The service was not friendly and rather mechanical. The dishes were very small for the price and were lacking taste. Voir le carte

Nice setting along the canal with a beautiful interior. Different choices of rooms to sit and possibility to sit outside as well. The 'Elzässer Flammkuche' is very recommendable. Service could have been more friendly, though

Stumbled across this restaurant just a few minutes walk from our hotel. We ate here twice and the food was very good. American & French menu at mid range prices. We had Burgers, Ribs and the Cheesecake dessert was really nice.

Wasn't certain what to expect from "French-American cuisine" and was a little let down by the quality of the food. Reasonable prices for drinks and food. Average quality burgers and chips/fries; lamb sausages with chips were a bit on the dry side. Really liked the interior seating space by the bar. Several other rooms available for dining. Would go back for drinks but not for the food. Voir le carte

Looked like a nice restaurant from outside - a lot of people in the relatively new restaurant. We ordred waygu burger and truffle fries. The meat was fried totally dead - all grey - could not see if it was waygu meat or just some fat minced meat Truffle fries was just fries with truffleoil I told the waiter and he just looked at me and left ! I am not going to spend my money there again - sorry

Atelier F is one of these trendy restaurant where the marketing takes sometimes more place than the food. They managed to create a real atmosphere while the restaurant is very comfortable. The service is just as friendly as it must be, but very efficient. The meals are well presented, tasty but some expensive for what it is: burgers, pasta... you have to order the side dishes separately although the price should already include at least one of them. A friend of mine recommended the restaurant. I would be more careful if I had to do same...

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
