"We were on holiday at Finlake and on two visits to Teignmouth we called into the Otter for a light lunch of a sandwich and beverage.Loved the Garden Centre, the layout, the plants and garden "products "for sale, and the whole range of other items displayed.Everthing was to our liking, the food, restuarnt and service provided, Very impressed with it all. However, on our second visit we both had tea which was two little tea pots, smallish cups and saucers and a larger pot of hot water to refill the little teapots with only one used tea bag in them.We asked for a second teabag and was curtly told it would be 50p each which we querid and again curtly told to let it stand longer and it was company policy.4 cups from one tea bag !!!!.The lady serving us was abrupt and in my view rude.To make matters worse,my wife is in a wheelchair so I had to leave the tray of beverage on the counter while pushing my wife to our table, set her in and then go back down to collect the tea tray.Needless to say we were not impressed. The sandwiches with crisps and salad were very good and the staff in the "upstairs "resturant were helpful and courtious. We enjoyed our visits but next time take our own teabag . 50 PENCE FOR A TEABAG IS OUTRAGIOUS"

We have visited Ottery St Mary Garden Centre over many years and knew it was expensive but enjoyed looking round and made it an occasional experience. We visited in October 2021 and were looking forward to going and buying some things for the garden etc...

My husband's meal, a sandwich with chips (you can't go wrong there), was good. However, the roast was a different story. The vegetables were undercooked and I couldn't eat them. The roast potatoes were overly roasted, almost burnt in some spots. The gravy, on the other hand, was delicious...

During my recent visit to the restaurant, I was disappointed to not find a gravy dinner on the menu. Instead, I opted for a vegetarian curry which consisted of sweet potato and butternut squash as the main ingredients. The portion size was smaller than expected, with the rice portion being double what one person would need. While the flavor was decent, the price was over £10 for ingredients that cost no more than a few pounds. After several visits with similar experiences, I have decided to look for another place to have lunch.

Have visited Otter nursery at Ottery St Mary for many years. A highlight used to be their restaurant which used to serve a large selection of home made meals including breakfasts, roasts (midweek as well as Sundays), homemade pies, honey roast chicken. And served with a variety of vegetables and accompaniments, followed by delicious desserts apple pies, trifles etc. No more. We have visited several times post covid and had hoped that some of the old favourites would return. Sadly menu choices are still very limited and nothing available with vegetables other than peas. No desserts and the cakes while Ok are half the size they were. Think this may be a sign of the times but we no longer feel...

We had heard great things about the Ottery garden centre, but had not found the time to visit until recently. Upon arrival, we were pleased to find plenty of disabled parking spaces in the car park across the road from the store. Once inside, we were impressed by the variety of plants and products available. We ended up purchasing a bee hotel, some Harry Potter Lego sets, and a stunning metal stag sculpture. The staff were helpful in assisting us with the stag, which we managed to fit into our car after some maneuvering. On our way to Seaton, we realized we had left behind a walking stick that I had hung on a nearby tree. After driving back to retrieve it, we also discovered a café serving d...

Well, I thought I’d give this place another chance now things are more or less normal after covid. This place used to be brilliant. I’d go every Sunday for a roast beef dinner, it was so good. But those days are gone, unfortunately. My husband and I visited on 9/7/22. We went for a light lunch as we had been shopping at the garden centre. I had a beef and onion sandwich. My husband had broccoli soup and a roll. The soup was bland, no flavour, hardly any seasoning. The roll was ok. My leather, sorry, beef sandwich had soggy bread and the driest beef that was difficult to swallow. It’s the same beef they use on the roast dinners, but it’s fine when it’s swimming in gravy, not so much on cheap...
