"This charming small hotel is located just a short distance from our home, but feels like a peaceful retreat in the beautiful Essex countryside. We have visited several times for special meals, but recently stayed overnight in one of their rooms for the first time. Our stay was comfortable and enjoyable, although a bit pricey. The room was cozy and impeccably clean, and the evening meal was delicious. However, there were a few minor issues that could easily be addressed. Our room, No.9, was well-equipped with a fan, iron, and ironing board, but lacked a hair dryer, bath/shower mat, and electric razor socket. Additionally, there were only 2 bath towels provided, with no matching hand towels.
The dining experience also had some shortcomings. The music in the evening was too loud, making it difficult to converse, and the breakfast staff on Sunday morning did not inform us about the availability of cereals and fruit juice. This led us to believe they were not included in the breakfast, so we missed out. The staff also seemed stingy with the tea and coffee, only providing a small cup and failing to offer refills. While these issues are minor, they can greatly impact the overall guest experience. Addressing these small details could make a significant difference in the hotel's rating and reputation."
