"It’s always been a pleasure to pop into Le Moulin my local patisserie in Hornchurch either for a light lunch or because they make the finest cakes , pastries , breads as well as serve the best coffee. The patisserie is run by fabulous hosts Helene Serge along with their great young team who can never do enough for you to make your visit an pleasurable one. So therefore you can imagine my delight when I heard they were going to start doing Afternoon Tea and I just couldn’t way to book. This led us to saturday where we had such an opportunity to give it a try and I can honestly say that you should make a reservation yourselves immediately. The tea is priced at £18 per person and is amazing value for money. When we arrived we were given the usual friendly welcome before being shown to our table. Helene then came over with a menu. Your first decision is to choose your drink whether it be coffee , tea or a soft drink. This is followed by selecting your choice of sandwich. The rest as they say is done. Then a few minutes later voila your afternoon tea appears before your very eyes with an amazing selection of cakes , scones , sandwiches , macaroons , strawberries , sausage roll quiche all set out on a three tiered tray. On the top there are a strawberry blueberry macaron , strawberry in chocolate. Along with four delightful cakes a chocolate raspberry , lemon , mascarpone banoffee. The middle tray are two light and fluffy fruit scones with clotted cream strawberry jam. Then on the bottom tray there is your choice of sandwich , sausage roll and my request a quiche. Everything was fresh and delicious which will come as no surprise if your someone like myself who is a regular visitor. So next time your in town I would highly recommend making a booking and at £18 per person this is ridiculous value for money. This is a point I raised with owner Helene so don’t be surprised if the price rises slightly but believe me it’s still absolutely worth it. This is by far the best cafe patisserie in Essex and now with afternoon tea it’s another fabulous string to their bow. Thank You Helene , Serge and all the team for a fabulous afternoon and look forward to seeing you all again soon. Au Revoir"

Brilliant quality cakes and excellent coffee. Nice venue that's kept clean and tidy by the friendly staff. Only issue is it's at the top end of the price scale.

Had breakfast here this morning with friends. Lovely and dainty place with lots of food to offer. My halloumi with ciabatta was really nice. And also the staff were very nice and friendly. Would love come here with my family too. Voir le carte

Beautiful beautiful cafe. Hidden gem! My new maternity hangout spot. Helen, Rhys and the team are lovely, friendly and welcoming. Everyone knows them! The coffee is fab, so are the cakes, lunch too. Why would you go anywhere else but this 16 year old institution? Lots of regulars come here and once visiting, it's clear to see why...

Would definitely recommend Le Moulin. The staff were friendly and the menu was quite broad. To note, it’s more of a light bites place so don’t expect massive breakfasts or lunches! We had the tuna salad and brie bacon sandwich. Both came quickly and were very tasty. Pricing was good too. It’s located in the centre of Hornchurch and looks very smart on the inside.

Le Moulin, Hornchurch You have to travel all the way East for this patisserie and it is well worth it! We had the lovely afternoon tea, which included lovely homemade sandwiches, little petit fours and scones (but as you can see, we had a swap for some sweet tarts). Everything was so yummy, we all had to get take-aways and their cakes and bread are super fresh and delicious! Head over to @lemoulinpatisserie asap! Voir le carte

A real community feel, where mothers with pushchairs, older people, teenagers share a space, great food and conversation. As well as delicious pastries, there is a list of dishes and pancakes, but if you want something bespoke, they're always happy to oblige. As i have allergies, they always ensure there something i can enjoy. Everyone coming in and out with a smile and some banter. It's really nice to feel part of the community in there, when outside the world is getting more of a challenge.

Cannot sing the praises of this beautiful little place more highly. I ran in at 4pm on Saturday desperately trying to find a last minute celebration cake for a party that evening. By 5pm they had produced the most beautiful cake, personalised for the special couple. At this point I didn't overly care what it tasted like as I was so happy we had something but it was exceptional!!! Honestly, the sponge was light and airy, the cream was perfectly sweetened and the fruit deliciously fresh. The whole thing was like eating a slice of heaven. It was exquisite! Everyone raved about both how beautiful it was and how delicious. Possibly one of the best things I have ever eaten. I can't thank the team...

"this is a great place Thai restaurant that we unfortunately do not visit as much as we want. it has been an established part of my hometown hornchurch and serves fantastic Thai cuisine for many years. I am now glad to say that on Saturday we had a opportunity to visit and again eating was full of all the aromes they expect from this style of food. on Saturday we have walked on our fifteen minute walk to the heart of the city where they find the restaurant. we entered and received the usual friendly reception before we took our places. While we looked at the menu, we ordered a beautiful bottle of maison bergon 2020 a delightful French sauvignon blanc, full of citrus fruits, apple and lemongras aromas. unusual for us we decided to choose a set menu. we chose the Bangkok menu with an additional Thai salad. this started with the prawn crackers and sweet chili diving sauce. the starter was a plate consisting of chickensatai, spring rolls, huh on toast, chicken strips prawn tempura, which was all fresh, hot and full of fabulous thai aromen. we followed this with our additional plate of the yum nuar a fabulous spicy salate of cut grilled sirloin, swirl, early swirl, coriander, lemon juice, fish sauce chili flock, which I would definitely recommend. we now went to the main courses that would be with ingwer in black bohnensoße, chicken green curry, sweet with egg noodles. thai jasmin reis. the aromen and choir again complicated themselves perfectly and made every dish absolutely delicious. to finish they can have either tee, coffee or a few pots vanilla ice cream. this brought our charming Thai lunch to the end, and we hope to do again in the near future. I would highly recommend a visit here as eating is fantastic and there is always a good friendly service. also it is a long established part of our community and should be supported. many thanks for our fabulous lunch and look forward to seeing them all again soon."

"Very disappointed with food quality and service. We had booked a table for 13 people, 3 of which which were children. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely waitress who took us to our seats, but then proceeded to ask us to pass the plates and cutlery down the table to where the other guests were yet to arrive. So we set half of the tables, which is bizarre to ask a customer, but she was a lovely girl so it wasn 't a big deal at the time...until things went really downhill. We ordered 3 x £40 mixed grill platters which are meant to serve 3 4 people and asked for rice only, no bulgar. All 3 platters were brought with half rice and half bulgar; we asked the waitress to correct this, and she was apologetic and came back with a bowl of half rice and half bulgar again, we asked for rice on, so she went back and got a bowl of rice. Bearing in mind each platter is meant to serve 3 4 people, I struggled to serve the children an adequate portion they had 2 tablespoons of rice each; that 's how much rice was served with the large grill. My 10 year old niece then pulled out a long strand of hair from the kofteh she was about to eat; absolutely disgusting! Unsurprisingly, the cook wasn 't wearing a hair net, which I presume is standard?? I tried to be tactile and not draw too much attention to the situation to other eating customers, so quietly pulled the waitress aside and gave her the hair; she apologised and had another kofteh cooked (actually felt sorry for the girl, she looked mortified). The crunch came when we went to eat the chicken wings and baby chicken so many were raw pink and red raw meat! We told the waitress and she was insistent that it was cooked, but took it back believe me we have cooked chicken before and know what raw meat is. We were shocked when the same chicken was re cooked and then served back to us bear in mind, by this point the chicken had already cooled down from the first time it was cooked, centre was raw, and then re cooked and served again! There was no way we would 've touched it; also keep in mind that some of the chicken had come off different guests ' plates and were bitten into how were we supposed to know which piece was who 's?? So bizarre, I 've never had this happen, even in the cheapest small café. By this time to be honest we were off our food. The meat wasn 't great really; some was ok; the chicken shish was ok, the lamb chops were also ok; the chicken kofteh had no flavour; the kofteh was very greasy; the rice was wet. On a high note, the lahumajun was lovely and so were the dips and bread. When it came to the bill, we made it clear the chicken should be taken off, as none was eaten by anyone. When the waitress came and handed the bill over and was asked if the chicken was removed from the bill, her response was I 'm just a worker who else are we supposed to ask then? Why the attitude?! We had the right to complain after being served raw meat! The cook/owner then came over, leaned over me, with a plate of chicken hovering above my head and my face in his armpit, and started to argue with another guest that we didn 't ask for the chicken to be well done; no spacial awareness or respect for one 's space whatsoever. I didn 't realise we had to request for our chicken not to be raw; absolutely ridiculous. He knocked off £15 and for a £170 bill and the awful experience, I think that was insulting. He then knocked off a bit more, and we just accepted as wanted to get out of there. The same waitress came back and cleared the table, slamming the plates onto the trays no manners whatsoever and clearly showing she 's pissed off. Such a shame; all other guests witnessed this while they were trying to eat; could 've been totally avoidable. Why risk your reputation? I 've never had to ever make a complaint like this before, let alone write such a review. If you choose to eat here, check your meat is thoroughly cooked, or you 'll be poisoned!"
