"Summary: We wouldn’t go back at all and sadly, would not recommend. Food ordered: Starters: Chicken Popcorn (2/5) Nice but tasted like KFC Salt Pepper Squid (4/5) It looked like sweet and sour chicken but it was tasty. French Fries (1/5) Tasted like chips with freezer burn Mains: The Buff Burger (3/5) A nice basic burger, reminded me of a burger from a van. Grilled King Prawn Skewers: (0/5) Awful, so underwhelming given the title. They definitely did not use King Prawns and it definitely was not restaurant quality in terms of presentation or flavour even for a diner. This was quite bland and supposedly took over an hour to prepare. They need to go to Billingsgate invest in some actual King Prawns. Sides: (These actually came with our Starters we waited so long for Mains that we’d finished by then) Return of the Mac (5/5) The Man N Cheese was really tasty, and a nice portion size too. Plantain: (5/5) Good portion size, nice and juicy. French Fries: (1/5) Still tasted like chips with freezer burn. Drinks: Pushing Pina (5/5) Orange Juice Pros: we were running late, when I called to move the booking it was done without an issue. The lady on the phone even explained that they had a booking of 45 people and the kitchen was very busy so moving our booking later would work out well because the kitchen would be less busy by the time we arrived. The starters and sides came out quickly with out drinks The salt and pepper squid was the nicest starter we tried, it looked like sweet and sour chicken but it was tasty. The Manager was polite, efficient and had really good customer service skills. We’d cancelled the order due to the wait time but the manager reinstated it and gave us complimentary take away boxes. Cons: We had a booking but the waitress that greeted us looked confused as to what to do or where to seat us. The place lacked ambience and the music playing was notably terrible. Even after moving our booking to a time that worked better around the booking of 45 people, the mains took over an hour to arrive. We saw four people that walked in after us get 4 burgers whilst we waited an hour for just one. we had to get back by a certain time so we cancelled the order due to the wait time and discrepancies on how long it would take from different waitresses. Other than the manager, the staff we saw seemed miserable. Maybe a team visit to another restaurant could give them an insight into the customer service they should aim to deliver and also raise morale."

"MIXED REVIEWS for good reason and you would hope the owner would pay attention. 1. Hygiene is not as good as it could be and that is bad for many customers even if staff dismiss it. 2. Customer service us variable. Bad for customers because they want to go somewhere they can rely on for a friendly welcome. 3. Fairness has been questioned. Several customers complain of being watched (too much by staff when using the buffet. We were. This shouldn 't be. It suggests a selfishness by the management. 4. Food quality is mixed... and this is just not acceptable. Food quality must be consistently excellent. Our visit was after a funeral, we were a large Party of 20+, a mix of very old to the very young. We were treated well and the starters were tasty. The buffet wasn 't open when we arrived but opened quickly enough. Standard dahl, potato and spinach curry, chicken curry etc. They were tasty (but as said, we were watched was it to see how many visits? . I have been to other Mirch Masala restaurants, they are pretty standard. I quite like the no frills plain tables, canteen style feeling. You 're there to eat staple Indian food. That 's it. But, as a customer, you want to know that the food is safe and that the environment is clean, and that the management are generous and fair. My hope is that Mitch Masala management read back the many positive and negative reviews and take action to change people 's perceptions so that it only achieves 4* and 5* reviews in future. Will I be back? Yes, for sure (and I 'll be ready to make another detailed review."

"My partner and I visited on Friday lunchtime, for the first and last time. We 're not from the area and had traveled 3 hours to see our young nephew for Christmas. I had booked a table the day before via telephone and explained to the man who took our call that we had two small terriers. Upon arrival we were not greeted by either of the two young women stood behind the bar; we didn 't even get a smile. This was a very different response to the friendly and helpful telephone call with the man I spoke to the previous afternoon. I let them know about our reservation to which one said, 'I didn 't know about your dogs '. We were pointed to a table and told to order at the bar; we had to ask for menus and then ask again for a children 's menu. As a vegetarian, there weren 't the most options and at 36 weeks pregnant I just wanted something light. My partner went to order me the mozzarella, tomato and avocado sandwich to be told first there was no avo, then no mozzarella and finally none of the focaccia. We asked for a vegan cheese substitute as mentioned on their menu and what arrived was a cheese and tomato on white bread. The cheese was like a white crumbled feta consistency and completely tasteless. My nephew was upset by the lettuce and ketchup added to his burger which wasn 't mentioned on the menu. We scraped that out and he enjoyed his food. My partner rated his steak sandwich too, so they were happy. I treated myself to a dessert, as lunch was so disappointing and just wish I hadn 't bothered. The chocolate creme brulee fondant topped with strawberries and chocolate brownie chunks is not what arrived. The chocolate is just a cold custard, not fondant, the strawberries were less than one quartered and just on the side of the plate, and the brownie was 3 tiny pieces of diced millionaire shortbread. Despite the discrepancies with both dishes, we were still expected to pay the price on the menu, which seems pretty cheeky when it 's not what you 're getting. The pub became very busy, with a lot of dogs and there was a very near miss between two, right next to our table which was distressing. We overheard after ordering that they were not taking orders for 20 minutes, to allow the kitchen to catch up, which I 've never experienced anywhere before. Had our nephew not been with us, we 'd have left at the point of ordering, but we persevered for his sake and didn 't want to make a scene. I was also exhausted. My partner enjoyed his food, but mine was very disappointing, and the atmosphere and service was terrible. One of the women staff was bordering hostile and spent a lot of time on her phone behind the bar. We were initially excited to find another dog friendly pub with a kids menu that we could go to when visiting our nephew, but after our experience, we will not be going back."

"What has happened to this once excellent eatery? 3 of us arrived for dinner it was a Friday and the restaurant was empty apart from a couple sitting close to us. The starters were ok chicken tikka, onion and garlic prawns though on ordering the waiter could not speak hardly any English and it took us ages to order. The main courses arrived my chicken Khari was not edible the chicken tasted off and did not smell right. One of my friends had a meat methi and within a couple of mouthfuls pulled out a long hair . Other dishes for main course onion Baji tasted like battered onion rings some soggy and tasteless. Sag paneer swimming in grease . We explained the meal not edible and about the hair but he presented the bill which also had a dish on it we had not had ! No apology, hardy any English spoken, manager came over in sandals with bare feet, no apology just nodded .We did not pay for some of the meal and I can now categorically say I will never eat here again. There was another complaint on a take away and the lady who came in was just ignored . I also recognized the man who I thought was the manager and was the same man who fined for poor hygiene at their Norbury branch some years previously. We also spoke to a couple seated near us who said the place had gone down hill . I used to go regularly but since it shut and re opened it has not been the same. The hygiene rating also says that it is waiting for an Inspection. Such a shame for this place as used to be heaving with great food. Do not waste your money on going here worst experience in a curry eatery"
