"I'd been recommended this place by a work colleague last Autumn but hadn't taken the opportunity until now;I am so glad I did. On arrival, the whole place is fairly unassuming. Situated at Manor Farm, just outside Weston On the Green, close to the Heyfords, we were greeted, following a short stroll from the car park, with an A board showing lots of items as sold out. It was almost 1.45pm and they stop serving hot foood at 2.30pm. Our initial concerns were abated after being shown to a sharing table [i.e. sitting with other customers] and given the short but varied food menu. The Milk Shed is definitely a brunch venue and the opening hours match that assumption : 10.30am to 3.30pm. It was bustling, busy and has the added attraction of what looked like homemade ice cream to take away. We ordered from the main menu, which features standard breakfast choices, backed up by dishes such as Grilled chorizo and piquillo pepper crostini and a deep filled cheesy tart, alongside a mega salad plate with herb grilled chicken and a yellow lentil dahl. The children's menu includes scrambled eggs, pasta and that old reliable, beans on toast. We opted for the toasted sourdough smoked streaky bacon sarnie and the Milwaukee rye with avo, halloumi, roast tomato, basil mayo and leaves. Both were generously proportioned and flavoursome. Priced at £8 and £14 respectively, I would say that it was a bit more expensive than we are used to but, on reflection, the quality of the food is clearly evident from the first bite. My wife's sarnie was delicious and you could see the steam rising off he just cooked bacon. As for my open sandwich, it was one of the most delicious brunch dishes I have tasted outside of UE Coffee Roasters, just outside Witney. The star of the plate is the basil mayo : rich, bold and with a vinegary sharpness that complemented the halloumi and super sweet tomatoes, roasted to perfection until their unctuousness caressed the taste buds. This mayo oh my they need to sell it in big jars, somehow !! The golden chunks of halloumi mixed with the creamy smashed avocado worked incredibly well together. Most impressive was the rye bread I don't know whether it is bought in or made on site but it retained both a light and chewy aspect, with a subtle complexity of flavour that perfectly offset the mounds of delicious savoury toppings. In addition we ordered two smoother than you could imagine cappucinos and a shared slice of lemon and poppy seed cake. The latter was light, infused with lemon flavour and rounded off with a smooth, moreish buttercream. Another delightful touch is the free tap water refills that come reassuringly cold. After paying, I popped my head into the kitchen and thanked the chef for the fantastic tasting food. We will be back again within the month. I cannot recommend The Milk Shed enough. Go, as soon as you can!"

"Stayed here for a few days.. The manager is very friendly and so are the staff.. Regards to the facilities and what you would expect from a hotel, not the best. When I booked it said cooked breakfast was included in the price but when we arrived the manager said it was just a continental breakfast which was just standard.. So we decided to go to Jennys cafe across the road which was lovely.. We returned back from a evening out and found water leaking from the ceiling luckily the water had just missed going into my shopping bags from Bicester which I would of been furious about.. The manager did move us straight away to the room upstairs but said that we wouldn't be able to have a shower as there was no hot water in there and the plumber would be coming to fix it the next day (but I think this was a lie as there was hot water) .. This meant that we had to go back down too our original room and shower in the morning which stank of damp because of the leak the previous night.. We hoped that we would be able to stay in the upstairs room but Manager said we could only stay in there for that one night and had to return back to our old room... They don't provide Toiletries which is unheard of in a Hotel as this should come a standard.. We had to ask the cleaner to change our sheets as we wanted clean ones because we were there for 3nights, the cleaner did change them but was a bit reluctant due to Covid19... The rooms are nice, spacious, traditional decor and the bed was comfortable.. Local to everything so a good location but definitely won't be staying here again"

"Really disappointed with the trip advisors as much as the pub. This was our first time here so we were looking forward to it based on the recent reviews. I rang and tried to book a table for 6:00 to 6.30 and was encouraged to make it 6 as they were busy later. When we turned up we were the only people there for half an hour and then 2 other couples came in before we left at 7:25pm. We ordered the dough balls to start and the garlic butter was frozen. The menu of lots of different pies on offer from the previous tenants was still visible but not on offer. The menu was very limited unless you wanted pizza. I ordered the crown burger because the confit duck leg was unavailable. My partner ordered the chicken chasseur. The burger came out on the smallest plate I have ever seen a main course served on in a pub or restaurant and it was tiny. It was £16 and an extra £1 for the cheese and another £1.50 for the single slice of bacon. The portion of fries came in a mug size cup! The chicken chasseur sauce was see through and was extremely watery and wasn't right. It came with no veg and a similar size portion of chips to mine and that was it! £42.50 for one portion of dough balls and 2 mains. The most disappointing thing was the way that our complaint was dealt with by the manager and staff. Nothing not even an apology. We eat out every week and have only had to stop on the way home once before to get something more to eat. This was the second time!!"

"We were staying near Banbury for our honeymoon and The Bell Inn was recommend to us by the owners of our B&B. We had a look online and found the small but very tasty looking menu. We personally prefer a smaller menu as it makes...choosing (a little) easier, but it also means each dish is made fresh with very much care and attention. Entering the pub we were greeted by the friendly bar man who showed us our seats. He took our drinks order shortly followed by our food order. He was lovely mannered and efficient. We were also served by a lovey lady who could not do enough for us. We started with calamari and baked mushrooms. Oh my goodness! They were both immense! I can honestly say I have never tasted calamari like it and I have rated it abroad. My husband’s mushrooms just melted in your mouth. Both dishes presented ever so well. I could have happily had the calamari as a main. As mains, I had the burger and my husband had fish and chips. The batter on the fish was perfectly crispy leaving tender white, tasty fish within it. The chips were also spot on, crispy but fluffy potato inside. The dish came with homemade tartare sauce which was completely out of this world. The burger was cooked and put together perfectly inside a brioche bun, with cheese, lettuce, tomato and gherkins. Served with skinny fries and delicious homemade coleslaw. It’s been a long time since I have had such an amazingly tasty burger in a restaurant before. Even though we were full to bursting we really wanted to try the Eton mess, so we shared one. We were not disappointed, it was wonderfully presented and tasted just as Eton mess should. We really wish we could have met the chef and shook his hand. The Bell inn really is a little gem. A traditional pub with amazing food and fantastic staff. If you’re in the area do drop in for a drink or even book a table and taste their wonderful food."

"What a unique and wonderful sensory experience, a hidden gem! Fabulous garden, fresh 3 course late lunch for two on Friday 2nd August. The passion and love for their ingredients was self evident but to be clear this place is big on “character” and “slow food”, the antithesis of modern chain restaurants and more authentic and in stark contrast to the more formulaic and manicured “farmshop garden centre” restaurants typical of the area. It’s like eating in someone’s private kitchen garden or giant allotment. Talk about field to plate provenance, ingredients don’t get fresher than this! We were fortunate to visit on a warm summer afternoon and our table for two, shaded by parasol and fruit trees, was alfresco rambling kitchen garden summer perfection. Other tables for 2, 4 and 6 are spaced so far apart around the restaurant sheds and out into the abundant gardens that we didn’t notice half of them until we explored later. For seating at other times of year there appeared to be rustic tables in two parts of the shed and one high ceilinged greenhouse. The menu is short and, as advertised, seasonal. To start we shared decadent pork crackling with a mirabelle chutney and beautifully sweet tomatoes in a caprese like salad. For our mains we chose the house mezze principally homemade babaganoush (fabulous), hummus, tomatillo salad with crusty white house baked ciabatta style bread and then whole mackerel (bbq chard) and beetroot. It was a crime not to try more than one of the three fabulous looking puddings something chocolate, an amazing sounding cheesecake and a mixed fruit frangipane. We had the latter a taste sensation. We made the most of the suggestion to explore the gardens and there appeared to be no limitations to this. There are a number of huge greenhouses bursting with tomato plants, vines and other veg. These are interspersed with combined vegetable and flower beds and fruit trees. We found chickens, geese and turkeys but must have missed the pigs. On our way we came across friendly gardeners and Stacey Gledhill, the artist in residence for the summer. To be clear these are not manicured gardens, they are beautifully wild and at this time of year watering and harvesting takes priority over weeding or meticulous tidying up. Since our visit I’ve read back through reviews on the usual platforms and have noticed occasionally severe criticism of this establishment when it comes to service, speed of service and pricing. We have no such complaints but it is possible to imagine how they might occasionally arise. Staff are surely not drilled to corporate style rulebooks; some tables are hidden and further from the hub; for this quality, prices are understandably at the high end of gastropub levels; and this is a working kitchen garden. In the end it’s a matter of taste, preferences and expectations. For us this was genuinely a five star exceeded expectations experience in all respects."
