"My wife and I have driven past this pub a few times so we decided to give it a try at lunchtime. We were not disappointed. The decor inside the pub is welcoming both in the bar and the dining room. The staff are very...friendly and helpful and they make this pub. My wife had a salmon and cream cheese sandwich mine was the same in a baguette. The food was fresh and very tasty as were the side dish of chips. The brownie and ice cream for dessert is well worth trying. Having discovered this gem of a pub we will be definitely coming back to sample more of the menu soon. Would recommend it to anyone travelling in the area."

Daventry Ramblers enjoyed lunch here on Saturday . We were made most welcome . The food was excellent at very sensible prices in a good old fashioned English pub just superb . As an added bonus the walking in this area is outstanding .

this is a beautiful local pub with a lot of character and different areas. warm snooks, separate sportable, private bar, open air balcony. it is very quiet and very cotswold stone. we had a fabulous meeting there recently, and they were very accommodating! Buffet food...was great. highly recommended.

The Boxing Hare

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
