Yates - Carte

The batter was significantly overcooked, there was too much fat to handle, and the fish was only okay. However, the service was excellent. I would not recommend ordering the plaice as there was more fat than fish.

I just ordered takeout from this restaurant and I must say, we were incredibly impressed. The fish had a light, crispy batter, generous portion of chips, and was great value for the price. I would definitely come back to eat here again.

We wanted an easy family friendly dinner but unfortunately that is not what we got! When we let them know that our order was wrong, as ‘they thought we did not want the sausages’ ordered and asked for it to fixed we ended up bad service and attitude. This ultimately left 2 children without dinner. We won’t be using again which is a shame. Voir le carte

Totally disappointed and chips and mushy peas and bread roll with the best parts on the plate. The fish was it overcooked And the butter was a hard as a rock. The steak and kidney pie tasted very cheep and was not as you would expect. We did mention the poor quality but all the table staff said “I will let them know “ . I don’t complain usually but I wouldn’t recommend this place to eat

Stumbled across this gem whilst on a family trip to the seaside. Absolutely brilliant place! We're a large family (6 of us on this occasion) and managed to feed and get drinks for everyone for around £20. Portions are humongous and cooked fresh. Staff were polite and friendly too. This will be our food venue of choice each time we come to Walton from now on. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Walked in asked to take a table , unfortunately there wasn’t any that was cleared of previous dinners crockery , eventually cleared but not cleaned , ordered food asked for condiments and was informed that that they didn’t offer brown sauce at all . Got a refund left , we have eaten here on many occasions always had a good meal , it’s such a shame that the standards have dropped so low , no clean tables , food scraps on the floor basic condiments not supplied Voir le carte

We'd done our favourite walk along the sea-front from Frinton to Walton and were looking forward to our fish n chips at Yates. But for some reason they got it horribly wrong on this occasion. It took over half an hour to cook my piece of plaice (nobody else was queuing during that time) and when I unwrapped it, the fish batter was rock hard and over cooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside. The chips were soggy and all stuck together. What a huge disappointment.

This is our favorite fish and chip shop. We drive to Frinton and enjoy a nice walk to Walton. Yesterday, I had the grilled fish and chips (I have a gluten intolerance). We were the first customers through the door and sat by the window in the sun. It was the best way to spend a Sunday. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I wouldn't go anywhere else for fish and chips. The fish was delicious and the chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It was perfect.

I have been visiting Walton on the Naze, off and on, for 30+ years. I have had a number of friends that live/lived in the area, and every one of them has always recommended Yates, as their 'Go to ' Fish and chips outlet. If you are new to the area firstly, let me tell you, that we incomers/ daytrippers, are known to the locals, as Chip eaters Personally, I don 't find this derogatory term. However, when I am this close to the Sea, I am aware that I should be able to buy, the best Fish Chips ever because the fish is so super fresh!? Well, if you are visiting, and if you want the absolute best fish chips in Walton...go to Yates. It 's a Fish Chip shop not to be mistaken with a Michelin restaur... Voir le carte
