"My family and I visited this restaurant last Tuesday at noon and were warmly welcomed by Wendy, who is an incredible hostess. We soon discovered that it was a family-run pub, with various family members working in different roles. By the time we left, we felt like we were part of the family. Wendy and her young staff member were so kind and welcoming that I am still smiling when I think about our visit. The menu was diverse, with something for everyone. It wasn't just the typical pub food - there were unique and inventive dishes, such as Mushrooms in a creamy stilton sauce (which we rated 5 stars) and a large Yorkshire pudding with various filling options (we chose Lincolnshire sausages, also 5 stars). Even though we live four hours away, if I am ever in the area again, this would be the first and only place I would choose for lunch. Thank you for hosting us so wonderfully; it truly made our day."

"Called in to poppy's today waited 10 minutes to be seated no one available people waiting to pay we got a table near next to the door girl said I will wipe it as it had used plates on it the wipe never happened I ordered a breakfast wife ordered roast pork dinner my breakfast came .and half way through eating it toast and butter arrived. I tried to take my time to eat it as the wife's dinner had not arrived. I had now finished still no dinner for the wife so asked why .response was be are busy..loads of tables empty more people waiting at the door no one seating people. So I said the the girl I will pay and leave this is awful service we would have liked to eat together she said no charge for my breakfast..fine but thar does not excuse no dinner for my old diabetic wife .I said to the girl I don't know who you treat holiday makers but we live here and this is going on trust pilot Also the place is full of flys wasps around you while eating so we will never come back again other do better"

"The staff at this restaurant is extremely friendly and welcoming. The dining area is well-presented. My only criticism is that the mattresses seemed a bit worn out and the food was slightly overcooked. However, I would definitely visit again. The restaurant is located in a charming village and the grounds are well-maintained. The prices are very reasonable. Parking is easy to find around the back of the restaurant. Even when we arrived late, we were able to find a spot. The restaurant is also very accommodating for children, including those with autism. The staff happily engaged with my kids, keeping them entertained while we enjoyed our meal."

"We had to visit here on Saturday as my local was too busy to take orders. Felt it was a little over priced for what you get in comparison. £6-7 more than my local within Skegness for the same order.Gave them an hour for the collection and order still wasn't ready when arrived and had to wait a further 15 minutes, despite her saying it would be 40 minutes maximum. We spent £21 and didn't get prawn crackers and the chow mein was just over half full and tasted full of pepper. Woman behind the counter was nice taking our order. I would return here, but it wouldn't be my go-to Chinese. If you can visit Skegness, there are some better and cheaper ones. Still however, not a bad Chinese for the more locals to burgh le marsh."

"Whilst staying locally over the August Bank Holiday weekend, we happened to find the Old Chequers Inn on our way back to the holiday park from a day out with the family in Skegness. We were looking for somewhere to eat after a full and...tiring day, Signposted off the A52 we chanced the slight deviation from the main road, and are ever glad that we did! Welcoming staff advised us that tables were available and that they were mid food service. We ordered Rib Eye Steaks, Pie of the day, Chilli Con Carne for the adults and pasta and chicken nuggets for the kids. The food arrived promptly and the portions were very generous, even accommodating a chips for jacket substitution on one of the Steaks. Well, the food was delicious, cooked to perfection and great value for money, so much so, that we chanced an opportunity to book for a Sunday roast for us all the very next day. We were told that although the pub only usually served until 3pm, but they would likely still be taking orders until 4pm, and that they could fit us in, we were overjoyed at the lengths that the team here went to accommodate us and would like to thank them all for making our visits thoroughly enjoyable! If you are ever out this way and travelling back from Skegness down the A52 towards Boston, look out for the brown signposts to this place. You will not regret it! If I could rate more than 5, I most certainly would!"
