"My husband and I visited the Snug bar last night with the intention of having a meal to celebrate his birthday. Upon arrival we checked with a lovely young girl behind the bar that they were dog friendly as we had our labradorJasper with us) she confirmed tthat he was fine to cone in. We sat close to the lovely fire ordered a drink and sat down to have a look at the menu thinking we had found the perfect place to relax enjoy the evening. How wrong we were....after a short while a waiter with a scottish accent) approached our table and made a huge fuss about how Jasper was laid next to the table and how he couldn't get to us. He clearly wasn't a dog lover and made us feel most unwelcome with his rude comments and ridiculous hopping around tthe table, presumably in an attempt to make a point that Jasper was taking up some floor space close to the table. I should add that at the time there was only one other person in this part of the bar and Jasper was laid quietly and not blocking any gangway past the table We both work in the leisure industry in customer facing roles and recognised that this is NOT the way to make customers feel welcome. We felt most unwelcome and an inconvenience for daring to have a dog with us. They call themselves dog friendly but the comments and attitude of this particular staff member suggested otherwise! Sadly he managed to ruin what could have been a lovely birthday meal, we will not be returning and took our business to another hotel across the road that know how to treat all their customers!"

The roast dinner was fabulous. Great portion size. Beef was beautifully tender, vegetables really well cooked. Roast potatoes lovely and crispy. And the chicken and beef burger went down well too. Will definitely be back

We met our friends from London here for drinks and a meal, they highly recommended the hotel and had a fabulous time. Lovely atmosphere and nice staff. The food was lovely. The hotel is very close to Moretons shops and cafes.

We had afternoon tea in the resident lounge (although we were not residing at the hotel) and there were very beautiful decorations and board games to play. The staff were very friendly and respectful, definitely will go there again Voir le carte

Beware!! The front desk at this hotel breached customer trust by overpromising and sugar coating information which was far from reality. They did not follow through. We had booked two rooms and on arrival a front desk member and we aligned that we will use one room and he gave us high confidence that the other room would be refunded. As soon as we came back to US, they all went back on their words and flatly denied refund. Had they told us before, we would have gladly used the other room. This behavior breaches customer trust. Avoid staying here! You never know when you will be cheated.

We stayed for just one night and had a delightful room. The hotel had tremendous history and character. The staff could not have been more courteous and accommodating but by far the most delightful thing was the food in the restaurant. We regularly stay in hotels and the food here has by far the best we have had, the starter,mains and deserts were absolutely superb and not expensive. The wines also were fabulous. We tasted three reds but could hardly choose because they were all so good. All in all it was a wonderful short stay and really delivered what quality hotels aspire to. Well done!
