"Having read good reviews I decided to treat my friend to Sunday lunch at the West House. Entering the building it was drab and the windows cloudy. Confident the food would make up for the neglected interior we were sadly disappointed. We ordered garlic mushrooms...to start There could not have been more than one mushroom sliced in the dish where kitchen staff couldn’t be bothered to wipe the spills off the plate. Bread accompanied the mushrooms but is was stale and dry despite looking very appetising. The starters were sent back whereupon the waitress informed me ‘I’ve taken the mushrooms off your bill’ (how generous). The beef (that according to the menu comes with ROAST potatoes and HOMEMADE gravy arrived and it was immediately obvious the so called roast potatoes had merely been cooked in chip fat (I conjecture they were frozen). The gravy looked as though it came from a packet. Asking the waitress where the ROASTED potatoes were and whether the greasy offerings on our plates were them she confirmed with the ‘chef’ they had actually been ‘deep fried’. Inquiries about the gravy revealed the HOMEMADE gravy had ‘been made from powder’. The waitress asked ‘do you want a spoon? when she brought a dish of vegetables which would have been handy! By far the worst Sunday meal (in a shoddy pub) I have ever had the misfortune to have. We left our table and informed a seemingly shocked waitress at the bar we were leaving. I can only assume anyone who considers the shameful offerings in the West House to constitute nice/good quality food hasn’t ever tasted better. Shame on the ‘chef’ and the rubbish (probably all bought in and frozen) food he is serving up to paying customers."

From the carpark you have to walk past the smokers shelter but smokers were congregated outside of the entrance door, no option but to walk through the smoke. Quick service, got asked if we wanted to order our drinks food straight away.... I ordered...Curry rice asked if I wanted chips, I declined but upon eating there were chips were under the curry ! my wife had Gammon steak but did not have a steak knife to cut it. Chips were golden brown on the outside but were not cooked, being quite hard . Very dated furniture decor, there didn't seem to be any heating in the main dining area (can't call it a restaurant) Will not be returning anytime soon. Voir le carte

We of us) arrived for a late lunch yesterday. We ordered garlic bread with cheese to start which we all enjoyed. My wife ordered what was described as a generous sized hand battered fillet of fish' She checked and was told it was cod....A medium sized piece of fish arrived. On cutting into it, there was a very generous coating of batter (about a inch thick) and what can only be described as a very small portion inside. A fish finger would have contained more fish. The other meals could only be described as okay but cetainly not value for money. The fish dish was We have previously eaten here and all enjoyed. Sadly not on this occasion. The menu has changed and the prices significantly increa...

We came back as the visit had top marks for the service, food and experience. From last week when we visited. This time however. Server ignored us after being there for started serving other people. Then said oh sorry I didn't see you....She clearly did. Waiting at our table for our food. It was clear from the smell that just came in and lingered that customers outside were smoking something that they shouldn't have been. But the server was oblivious to the smell or was used to it. Waited over for the server who was shouting at a customer and talking to a dog to order another drink. But still no acknowledgment We paid up when we eventually got her attention. As she was to busy arguing with c...

"So came here last night 13th oct. 9 of us 2 of which 2 young kids. Had starter , calamari this was ok, sauce was nice. Main was lovely which was lasagne really quite tasty it came with chips which were nothing special if im honest, i ordered a side of garlic bread with it which was nice, The host was a nice guy very chatty, the staff seemed a little clumsy if im honest, just as we sat down a tray of drinks went down the back of my sister because the waitress wasn't looking what she was doing although accidents do happen so no biggy, although I will say nothing was offered! No extra drinks, a free starter, nothing!!! This brings me on to the cost. Not much beer choice at all, consisting of draught peroni which was are you sitting down) £6.50 a pint! So I ordered a bottle of bishops finger which i thought was a 500ml bottle, it didn't say on the menu the size of the drink which i think it should have, Well the bottle came and it was a 330ml bottle!! £4.70 for a 330ml bottle!!! im sorry but thats to much, come on guys. We all had a starter and a main with dessert each, i had the newyork cheesecake, which was ok but tasted abit like something frozen, didn't seem home made to me anyway. The Total bill came to just over £400!!! £60 of which was a service charge i was told by someone on the table, but the owner has now said that there was no service charge so if this is the case then i apologise), we were a decent size group but you know when you've gone somewhere and feel that the cost is just too much. Nice restaurant but too expensive imo."
